A mechanic must begin transmission fluid and filter exchange in a 4l80-e transmission by supporting the vehicle then positioning a drain pan under the transmission Oil Pan. Begin by removing all bolts from the Oil Pan except the ones at the back while loosening these final two bolts by 4 turns to avoid damaging transmission case or Oil Pan sealing surfaces. The customer should first gently open the Oil Pan front to drain the oil before removing all pan bolts and finishing with removal of the Oil Pan itself and gasket and magnet and Oil Filter and filter neck seal.
