How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on GMC Savana 2500?

The first step to replace an automatic transmission shift lever consists of disabling the sir system. The shift lever seal should be raised towards the top of the shift lever followed by examination of steering column trim covers. Remove the shift lever screw at the bottom of the column before disconnecting the connector and taking out the shift lever from its assembly. The shift lever needs to come out with the seal from the linear shift assembly yet the shift lever seal needs to slide towards the narrow shift lever section before removal. To install the piece place the shift lever seal onto the narrow end of the shift lever assembly before inserting the shift lever assembly to its linear position. The shift lever screw needs to be installed into the shift lever assembly and should be tightened to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Position the shift lever seal towards the narrow portion of the shift lever assembly until it reaches the steering column trim covers. Put back the steering column trim covers when necessary before activating the sir system.
