    Q:
How to replace the front Automatic Transmission Shifter with the Tow/Haul Switch on Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step involves removing trim covers before rolling back the shift lever seal to access its torx(r) head screw. After screw removal proceed with the replacement. You should remove the knee bolster and its attached nuts that work with the knee bolster deflector bracket. To remove the Steering Column proceed with removing the wire harness retaining clip to protect the wire harness while disconnecting the wiring harness retaining pin from the instrument panel. To begin the procedure start by opening the harness insulation after detaching the wire straps and disconnect the electrical wires from the connector while also pulling out the shift lever. Shift lever installation begins by attaching the lever followed by connecting its electrical shifter connector. The harness integrating pin should be placed back into the instrument panel while the wire straps get reattached to the harness. Position the knee bolster deflector bracket in place before installing its nuts and when complete tighten them to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). After that, mount the knee bolster. Secure the torx(r) head shift lever screw at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque and then proceed to route the seal over the screw before fastening 2 torx(r) head screws into the lower column trim cover to complete the installation of trim covers.
