    Q:
How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step when replacing the automatic transmission shift lever requires disabling the sir system. You should position the shift lever seal towards the top section of the shift lever. The next step requires removal of steering column trim covers only if necessary. Start by removing the shift lever screw from the shift lever assembly and disconnect the shift lever connector that rests at the base of the column. Remove the shift lever with its seal from the linear shift assembly while making sure the shift lever seal can slide toward the narrow shift lever section. The shift lever assembly needs its shift lever seal positioned onto its narrow end before mounting the assembly to its linear counterpart. Place the shift lever screw into the shift lever assembly after making it tight at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Insert the shift lever seal along the shift lever assembly while moving it towards the steering column trim covers. The sir system can be enabled after reinstalling steering column trim covers when needed.
