    Q:
How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on Chevrolet Express 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
A technician should start by disabling the sir system before moving the shift lever seal toward the top of the shift lever. Steering column trim covers should be removed while you disconnect the shift lever connector at the base of the column only if needed. Extract the shift lever screw from the shift lever assembly to extract the shift lever assembly components with the exception of the shift lever seal from the linear shift assembly. The shift lever seal needs to be removed through sliding it into the shift lever's narrow section. To install the part, mount the shift lever seal onto the narrow end of the shift lever before fitting the shift lever assembly to the linear shift assembly. Insert the shift lever screw into the shift lever assembly while tightening it to 1.5 nm (13 inch lbs.). The shift lever assembly needs the shift lever seal slid downward before aligning it with the steering column trim covers. Reinstall the steering column trim covers after completing the final step which is enabling the sir system.

    Q:
How to Replace Automatic Transmission Shift Levers on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, you have to disable the sir system before replacing the shift lever. Move the shift lever seal up the shift lever, and take off the steering column trim covers if you have to. Unplug the shift lever from the base of the column and then take out the screw from the shift lever. Take the shift lever and seal out of the linear shift assembly, making sure you slide the seal towards the small end of the shift lever to remove it. Now, put the shift lever seal onto the narrow end of the shift lever assembly, and then connect the shift lever assembly to the linear shift assembly. Make sure the shift lever screw goes into the shift lever assembly, then tighten it carefully to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Pull the shift lever seal along the shift lever to the base, making sure it sits correctly in the steering column trim covers. Should they have come off, put the steering column trim covers back in place, then enable the sir system.

    Q:
How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace an automatic transmission shift lever consists of disabling the sir system. The shift lever seal should be raised towards the top of the shift lever followed by examination of steering column trim covers. Remove the shift lever screw at the bottom of the column before disconnecting the connector and taking out the shift lever from its assembly. The shift lever needs to come out with the seal from the linear shift assembly yet the shift lever seal needs to slide towards the narrow shift lever section before removal. To install the piece place the shift lever seal onto the narrow end of the shift lever assembly before inserting the shift lever assembly to its linear position. The shift lever screw needs to be installed into the shift lever assembly and should be tightened to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Position the shift lever seal towards the narrow portion of the shift lever assembly until it reaches the steering column trim covers. Put back the steering column trim covers when necessary before activating the sir system.

    Q:
How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before repair of an automatic transmission shift lever the sir system needs to be disabled. The shift lever seal needs to be slid all the way up the shift lever before proceeding to detach the steering column trim covers if needed. The base of the column requires you to unplug the shift lever connector followed by unscrewing the shift lever screw from the shift lever assembly. The shift lever needs removal by sliding out both components from the column while directing the shift lever seal into the shift lever assembly's narrow section. Fit the shift lever seal onto the small section of the shift lever assembly. The shift lever assembly can then be put back in place while tightening the shift lever screw to 1.5 nm (13 inch lbs.). Position the shift lever seal at the bottom of the shift lever assembly so it fits correctly with the steering column trim covers. When necessary put back the steering column trim covers followed by activating the sir system.
