    Q:
How to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disabling the sir system needs to be the first step when performing maintenance on the Steering Angle Sensor. Before you detach the Steering Column or intermediate shaft always confirm that the Steering Column is in lock position and the front wheels point straight ahead to protect both the sir coil assembly and its alignment. Lock your Steering Column through the use of the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640). Install a pin-sized between 1.0-2.0 mm when maintaining the sensor's correct positioning before removing it from the steering shaft for reuse. If a sensor cannot be centered properly following removal it needs to be discarded. Better access is achieved by removing the sensor connector followed by removing the sensor retainer from the steering shaft. When reusing the sensor pull it out straight from the bearing adapter until reaching the vicinity of the steering shaft while keeping the pin installed until final reinstallation. A fresh sensor requires simple extraction from its bearing adapter position on the steering shaft. When positioning the sensor for installation keep it touching the steering shaft and the bearing adapter while avoiding any force that would tilt the sensor. The device needs calibration at a 3.00 mm distance from where it touches the bearing adapter. Before reinstalling the Steering Column install the sensor retainer after removing the connecting pin. To enable sir system functionality remove the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) lastly.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The sir system must be disabled before attempting to service or repair the Steering Angle Sensor. Disabling the sir system begins by checking that both front wheels face forward and the Steering Column lock engages then you can detach the steering components to protect the sir coil assembly. Theehicles should have a Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) installed to lock the Steering Column. When using the sensor again install a 1.0 to 2.0 mm diameter pin to its center before sensor removal. Sensor replacement becomes necessary when the sensor is removed without this pin. Extract the Steering Column from the vehicle to expose the sensor connection for more efficient working conditions. First remove the Steering Shaft retainer before drawing the sensor out of the bearing adapter using installed pin retention. When replacing a sensor pull it directly out from the bearing adapter while still attached to the Steering Shaft. After positioning the sensor onto the Steering Shaft and the bearing adapter you should keep the pin installed. During installation position the sensor with a gap of about 3.00 mm from the bearing adapter. Return the sensor connector first then eliminate the pin before placing the sensor retainer onto the Steering Shaft. The installation ends when you return the Steering Column to the vehicle after removing the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) and enabling the sir system.
