How to service and repair the Automatic Transmission Filter for the 4L80-E/4L85-E on GMC Savana 3500?

Start by raising the vehicle while placing a drain pan under the transmission Oil Pan in order to service and repair automatic transmission fluid/filter parts of the 4l80-e/4l85-e. Start by removing the Drain Plug on the Oil Pan when present before unbolting the pan bolts then completely take off the pan. The service requires removing the gasket as well as the magnet and both the filter and filter neck seal. The inspection of usable Transmission Pan gaskets should lead to replacement if necessary before cleaning transmission case and pan gasket surfaces with solvent. Installation requires mounting the filter neck seal together with the Oil Filter before applying the Oil Pan Gasket onto the pan and inserting the magnet beneath it. The transmission receives its Oil Pan through installation of seventeen bolts which require 11 nm (97 inch lbs.) torque and the Drain Plug needs gm p/n 12346004 sealant on threads when equipped and gets tightened to 13 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). As the last step lower the vehicle and use dexron iii transmission fluid to achieve the correct fluid level in the transmission.
