The replacement of the fan requires the initial step to be the upper Fan Shroud removal. First install the Fan Clutch remover and installer (J 46406) to the Fan Clutch and then remove the fan hub nut from the Water Pump by rotating it counterclockwise. The Fan Clutch bolts should be removed from behind the Fan Blade before separating the Fan Clutch from its blade. Attach the Fan Clutch correctly to the Fan Blade prior to a new fan installation according to the specifications of 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). The next step is to place the fan assembly while utilizing the Fan Clutch remover and installer (J 46406) to reach 56 nm (41 ft. Lbs.) torque by turning the nut clockwise. Reinstall the upper Fan Shroud as the last step of installation.
