How to replace the idler arm on GMC Sierra 1500?

The process to replace the idler arm begins with acquiring the necessary tools which include Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller (J 24319-B). Start by removing the engine shield if present then dispose of the former idler arm nut. Start by taking off the idler arm nut attached to the idler arm and disconnect the idler arm from the relay rod. The puller device (J 24319-B) should be used for removing the idler arm from its relay rod position before removing bolts and nuts that attach the idler arm to the vehicle frame. Install the new idler arm according to the vehicle frame and proceed to tighten its bolts and nuts to 105 N.m (78 lb. ft). After hooking the idler arm to the relay rod avoid using the old idler arm nut while tightening a new one to 62 N.m (46 lb ft). The last step involves installing the engine shield when present along with performing front toe adjustment.
