All Automotive manufacturers recommend GMC Sonoma Coil Springs because they are parts of the car's suspension system that help in cushioning the bumps on the road and to stability during driving. These springs come in two varieties namely; constant rate springs and the variable rate springs. In constant-rate springs the compression is constant when heavy loads are applied while in variable- rate springs there is increase in the rate of compression as the weight increases, thus, improving support and stability. These GMC Sonoma Coil Springs are made of highly strong and durable steel and alloys and they are finished for anti-rust ad anti-oxidation so that they will have long durability and performance. These coil springs help in reducing energy from bumps and jolts hence enhancing the driving experience of the driver as well as the passengers.

GMC Sonoma Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front coil springs on GMC Sonoma?
    A:
In order to replace the front Coil Springs, you need to remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm and the shock absorber. Secure the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-01) at the end of an appropriate jack, and cradle the lower Control Arm bush with the same. Lift the jack to relieve the tension on the lower arm control pivot drill before you could steer the steering to one end to release steering linkage from the lower Control Arm front pivot drill. Pull off the bottom pivot arm pivot bolt and nuts, the rear of the bottom Control Arm and the front pivot bolt of the bottom Control Arm. Gradually relieve the tension from the front coil spring using the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-01) and remove the front coil spring and the insulators by not using force on the lower Control Arm or lower ball joint. To install: location the front coil spring with insulators, mounting the coil spring partially covering one inspection drain hole, while partially covering the other hole with the coil spring partly or complete. Use the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-01) to support the Control Arm, while placing the coil spring and insulator in the upper spring seat on the frame, lift the lower Control Arm with the same tool. Mount the lower Control Arm to the frame while making certain to have enough steering linkage clearance by ensuring the bolts go in the correct direction. Replace the front lower Control Arm pivot bolt and a new nut; replace the rear lower Control Arm pivot bolt and a new nut. Tighten the lower Control Arm pivot bolts nuts with the front suspension loaded- 115 nm (85 ft. Lbs.) for the lower Control Arm front nut and 98 nm (72 ft. Lbs.) at the rear for the lower Control Arm nut. Finally, take out the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-01), install the shock-absorber, connect the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control bar, and check the field alignment of the front wheel.
