    Q:
How to replace the harmonic balancer on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
A replacement of the crankshaft balancer requires three essential tools which are balancer and crank sprocket installer (J29113) and flywheel holder (J37096) and crankshaft balancer remover (J41816). To begin with you should remove the Drive Belt followed by the right front tire and wheel together with the right engine splash shield. You should begin by placing jack stands to the frame and then loosen the left frame bolts before taking out the right side frame bolts to let the right side of the frame drop down for crankshaft balancer access. The first step involves removing the torque converter cover before placing the flywheel holder (J37096) to restrict flywheel turning. First remove the bolt for the crankshaft balancer followed by its washer with a crankshaft balancer remover (J41816). The installation of the crankshaft balancer begins by applying gm p/n 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) sealant to the balancer keyway followed by balancer installation with balancer and crank sprocket installer (J29113) before removing this tool. The flywheel holder (J37096) serves to block flywheel rotation before you install the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt which require a torque of 160 nm (118 ft. Lbs.). Replace the flywheel holder (J37096) after which install the torque converter cover while raising the frame to its previous height then tighten all frame bolts. To complete the procedure install the right engine splash shield together with the right front tire and wheel and the Drive Belt.
