    Q:
How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the Body Control Module turn off the ignition key to shield it from harmful electrical discharges and bcm internal malfunction. Disassemble the panel at the lower front floor right side before using your tool to unscrew bcm retaining screws. Take off the bcm by disconnecting its wiring from the bcm unit. Keep the Ignition Switch in off position during the setup process. Place the bcm on top of the multiuse bracket and then click in all its harness connectors. Place the three bcm retaining screws into their matching positions and fasten them to 2 n.m (18 lb in) torque setting. Finally, reinstall the kick-up panel. The bcm needs special setup when it goes into a new or replacement setup.

    Q:
How to Safely Handle and Replace the Body Control Module on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Make sure to turn off the Ignition Switch first when dealing with the Body Control Module (BCM). This stops electrostatic discharge from damaging both the bcm and its internal components. Begin by taking off the curving panel under the right front floor area. You need to take out the 3 bcm retaining screws on the multiuse bracket then detach the wiring links from bcm before taking the unit out from the vehicle. Always turn off the Ignition Switch before beginning the new Body Control Module installation. Attach the harness cords to the bcm unit and put the bcm onto the multiuse bracket. Fasten the 3 retaining screws onto the bcm and tighten them to 2 nm while manually adjusting only after installation is complete. Finally, reinstall the kick-up panel. When putting in a fresh or replacement bcm always sync the device with vehicle data.
