Lbs.), the same as the inner seal. Slide the large diameter of the outer seal, facing the large retaining ring on its place over the outside edge of the cn joint making sure that the lip of the outer seal has entered firmly into the groove of the cn joint. Modify the outer seal by eliminating any excess air, readjust the large retaining clamp to the cn joint housing using the j 35910 (or related) with a breaker lethal tighten it in place using a torque wrench and a torque of 176 nm (130 ft. Lbs.). Finally, measure the gap dimension at the clamp ear, angulate the cn joint a few times to spread the grease and mount the inner seal.

Gather a torque wrench and breaker bar with the drive axle seal clamp plier (J 35910) to tighten the small retaining clamp to the outer seal at 136 nm (100 lb ft). Guide the large exterior part of the seal onto the c/v joint before placing the lip into its groove and smooth out air bubbles through outer seal manipulation. User must install the large retaining clamp to the c/v joint housing by using the drive axle seal clamp plier (J 35910) together with a breaker bar and torque wrench to achieve 176 nm (130 lb ft) torque. Users must then check the clamp ear gap dimension before angulating the c/v joint multiple times to spread the grease and finally installing the inner seal.

To replace the outer joint and boot of the constant velocity joint, first acquire the tools for it, basically: drive axle seal clamp plier (J 35910) and snap ring plier/j 8059. First strip off the inner seal, make sure not to damage the outer race using a hand grinder to cut into the large retainer clamp that is at the c/v joint that can then be discarded. Then, use scissors to cut through the small retaining clamp at the small end of the outer seal, and get rid of that too. It is very important not to detach the c/v joint from the driveshaft bar because once this is done, the entire driveshaft assembly would need replacement. It is important to peel off the outer seal from the c/v joint, clear out the old grease, and air-dry it thoroughly. Thereafter pack the c/v joint assembly with the pre-measured grease from the kit at which point you should install the new small retaining clamp onto the outer seal, applying it over the new large retaining clamp. Position the small end of the outer seal into the c/v joint outer seal groove of the driveshaft bar, and secure the small retaining clamp to the outer seal with a torque wrench, the breaker bar, j 35910. Torque the clamp to 136 n.m (100 lb ft). Slide larger diameter of outer seal on the c/v joint so that lip is in groove and manipulate outer seal to expel air from seal. Attach the large retaining clamp to the c/v joint housing, using the drive axle seal clamp plier (J 35910), a breaker bar, and a torque wrench (176 N.m (130 lb ft)). Last but not least, inspect the gap dimension on the clamp ear, angulate the c/v joint multiple times to spread the grease, and apply the inner seal.

Assemble the cage with the inner race and balls, then slide the assembly onto the driveshaft bar and install the small retaining ring with J 8059.

Clean the driveshaft bar with a wire brush to remove any rust in the seal mounting areas.

Secure the small retaining clamp using J 35910 (or equivalent), a breaker bar, and a torque wrench, tightening it to 136 Nm (100 lb ft).

Slide the seal down the driveshaft bar away from the D/O joint.
