How to Replace a CV Boot and CV Joint on a Front Wheel Drive Shaft for Inner on GMC Acadia?

To change front wheel drive shaft inner joint and boot, first get rid of the wheel drive shaft from the vehicle and hold it constant in a soft jawed vise. Now use side cutters to remove and throw away the small boot clamp from the boot , then use the appropriate tool to remove and throw away large boot clamp from the boot . Then the boot is to be taken out from the tripot housing , and the inner tripot housing is to be separated from the wheel drive shaft . Use the conduit tool to remove the outer tripot spider retaining ring off the wheel drive shaft and the tripot spider act. In case available, pull out the inner tripot retaining ring from the wheel drive shaft, and then the wheel drive shaft boot. Check the inner joint of the wheel drive shaft. For assembly, attach the boot into the wheel drive shaft making sure that it is well inserted into the groove. If necessary, install the inner tripot retaining ring . Position the tripot spider , so that it comes into contact with the shoulder on the wheel drive shaft, then install the outer tripot spider retaining ring , using the right hand tool. Using the j 35910 - drive axle seal clamp pliers pinch down the boot clamp until the space between them is 1.8 mm (0.07 inch). Mount the tripot housing on the wheel drive shaft and the wheel drive shaft boot on the tripot housing. Put about half of the lubricant in the boot and the other half in tripot housing. Close the boot clamp by using the j 35910 - drive axle seal clamp pliers, ratchet wrench, and breaker bar in such a way that the gap is 1.9 mm (0.07 inch). While taking out any extra lubricant from the tripot housing and wheel drive shaft, rotate the tripot joint housing in a round movement so that the lubricant is well distributed. Lastly, use the vise to extract the wheel drive shaft from it and put it back into the vehicle.

How to replace the CV Boot and CV Joint on the Wheel Drive Shaft Inner on GMC Canyon?

Begin wheel Drive Shaft inner joint and boot replacement by installing the driveshaft into a vise equipped with protective covers over its jaws for protection. First use a hand grinder to cut through the big retaining clamp located at the d/o joint so you can discard it then repeat the process with the small retaining clamp at the seal's small end and dispose of it too. Push the seal down the driveshaft bar until it moves past the d/o joint. A common hand tool can remove the d/o ball retaining ring before pulling the d/o joint housing off the driveshaft bar. The small retaining ring requires spreading while using tool j 8059 before removing the cage and inner race assembly from the driveshaft bar to extract the balls. Degrease all components after you remove the inner race from its cage then throw the seal away. Inspect the driveshaft bar for rust using a wire brush to clean out seal mounting areas before checking the d/o joint housing for any damage or wear and replacing it as needed. To install the seal put a new small retaining clamp onto the neck of the seal before sliding it to its proper position on the driveshaft bar. Use j 35910 (or equivalent) together with a torque wrench and breaker bar to apply 136 nm (100 lb ft) torque when securing the small retaining clamp. Position the cage so the larger diameter faces upwards before setting the inner race with its retaining ring side up into the cage window. Insert six balls inside the cage openings. Insert the cage/inner race assembly onto the driveshaft bar while using j 8059 to install the small retaining ring then pack the seal and d/o joint housing with pre-measured grease obtained from the kit. Install the new large retaining clamp onto the seal followed by sliding the d/o joint housing down the cage and inner race assembly then inserting the d/o ball retaining ring into the top housing groove. Installation of the seal onto the d/o joint housing requires checking the inboard stroke position before using j 35910 (or equivalent) with a torque wrench to secure the new large retaining clamp and seal at 176 nm (130 lb ft). To disperse grease across the d/o joint you must execute multiple full strokes.

How to replace the front CV Boot and CV Joint on the drive shaft inner joint on GMC Terrain?

Start by removing the wheel drive shaft from your vehicle before replacing its front inner joint and boot assembly. Set the wheel drive shaft bar inside a soft-cushioned vise. First remove the boot retaining clamp from the tripod housing boot with a flat-bladed tool before using side cutters to remove the boot clamp from the wheel drive shaft boot. Start by separating the tripod housing from the wheel drive shaft before removing the retaining clip and the tripod spider that's fitted onto the wheel drive shaft. Check the wheel drive shaft internal joint for damage as well as signs of too much wear after removing the boot from the shaft. Fasten the boot onto the wheel drive shaft before installing the tripot spider assembly on the wheel drive shaft so it rests against the shoulder. Insert the retaining ring into the wheel drive shaft before filling the seal with half of the kit grease and the remaining grease into the tripod housing. The tripod housing should be positioned onto the wheel drive shaft followed by installing boot clamp on both tripot housing boot and wheel drive boot spaces. To secure the boot clamp properly use the J 35910 - Drive Axle Seal Clamp Pliers together with a breaker bar, torque wrench, or ratchet. First adjust the clamp to create a 2.15 mm (0.085 in) wide gap and then finalize the clamp at 1.9 mm (0.070 in). Use circular motion to spread tripot joint grease between applications before the permanent reinstallation of the wheel drive shaft.

To change front wheel drive shaft inner joint and boot, first get rid of the wheel drive shaft from the vehicle and hold it constant in a soft jawed vise. Now use side cutters to remove and throw away the small boot clamp from the boot , then use the appropriate tool to remove and throw away large boot clamp from the boot . Then the boot is to be taken out from the tripot housing , and the inner tripot housing is to be separated from the wheel drive shaft . Use the conduit tool to remove the outer tripot spider retaining ring off the wheel drive shaft and the tripot spider act. In case available, pull out the inner tripot retaining ring from the wheel drive shaft, and then the wheel drive shaft boot. Check the inner joint of the wheel drive shaft. For assembly, attach the boot into the wheel drive shaft making sure that it is well inserted into the groove. If necessary, install the inner tripot retaining ring . Position the tripot spider , so that it comes into contact with the shoulder on the wheel drive shaft, then install the outer tripot spider retaining ring , using the right hand tool. Using the j 35910 - drive axle seal clamp pliers pinch down the boot clamp until the space between them is 1.8 mm (0.07 inch). Mount the tripot housing on the wheel drive shaft and the wheel drive shaft boot on the tripot housing. Put about half of the lubricant in the boot and the other half in tripot housing. Close the boot clamp by using the j 35910 - drive axle seal clamp pliers, ratchet wrench, and breaker bar in such a way that the gap is 1.9 mm (0.07 inch). While taking out any extra lubricant from the tripot housing and wheel drive shaft, rotate the tripot joint housing in a round movement so that the lubricant is well distributed. Lastly, use the vise to extract the wheel drive shaft from it and put it back into the vehicle.

Push the seal down the driveshaft bar until it moves past the d/o joint. A common hand tool can remove the d/o ball retaining ring before pulling the d/o joint housing off the driveshaft bar. The small retaining ring requires spreading while using tool j 8059 before removing the cage and inner race assembly from the driveshaft bar to extract the balls. Degrease all components after you remove the inner race from its cage then throw the seal away. Inspect the driveshaft bar for rust using a wire brush to clean out seal mounting areas before checking the d/o joint housing for any damage or wear and replacing it as needed. To install the seal put a new small retaining clamp onto the neck of the seal before sliding it to its proper position on the driveshaft bar. Use j 35910 (or equivalent) together with a torque wrench and breaker bar to apply 136 nm (100 lb ft) torque when securing the small retaining clamp. Position the cage so the larger diameter faces upwards before setting the inner race with its retaining ring side up into the cage window. Insert six balls inside the cage openings. Insert the cage/inner race assembly onto the driveshaft bar while using j 8059 to install the small retaining ring then pack the seal and d/o joint housing with pre-measured grease obtained from the kit. Install the new large retaining clamp onto the seal followed by sliding the d/o joint housing down the cage and inner race assembly then inserting the d/o ball retaining ring into the top housing groove. Installation of the seal onto the d/o joint housing requires checking the inboard stroke position before using j 35910 (or equivalent) with a torque wrench to secure the new large retaining clamp and seal at 176 nm (130 lb ft). To disperse grease across the d/o joint you must execute multiple full strokes.
