    Q:
How to replace the left engine mount on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
The left Engine Mount replacement process begins by taking out the front suspension crossmember followed by unscrewing the Engine Mount-to-Engine Mount bracket nut before removing the Engine Mount from the Engine Mount bracket. The second step involves removing the Engine Mount heat shield from the assembly while maintaining the correct position of its locating dowel. Begin with mounting the heat shield onto the Engine Mount then position it so the locating dowel fits its intended spot correctly. Place the Engine Mount onto the mount bracket before installing the Engine Mount-to-bracket nut while torquing it to 58 nm (43 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the front suspension crossmember as the last step.

    Q:
How to replace the Motor and Transmission Mount on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the transmission mount begin by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by securely raising the vehicle. Begin by taking out the rear wheel assemblies and the rear Shock Absorber lower bolts while also removing the transaxle mount to Rear Crossmember nuts. Use the j 42055 transmission support fixture (J 42055) to secure the transmission jack while holding the transmission in position. A transmission jack should go beneath the rear suspension crossmember yet secure it before only using hand tools when removing the retaining crossmember nuts. Use a spanner to lower the Rear Crossmember 37 mm (1.5 inches) before removing the differential mount bolts which secure the mount needing replacement. Fasten the new transaxle mount first followed by tightening the transaxle mount to differential bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Rear suspension crossmember mounting can be completed with hand tools after guiding the transaxle mount studs into placement. Tighten these new nuts to 110 nm (81 ft. Lbs.). First disconnect the transmission jack from the rear suspension crossmember and release the j 42055 from the transmission before removing both components. Install the transaxle mount to rear suspension crossmember nuts, tightening them to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.)move to the rear Shock Absorber lower mounting bolts and tighten them at 220 nm (162 ft. Lbs.). Lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative Battery Cable before tightening the bolt to 15 nm (111 ft. Lbs.). Also restore the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Finally, program the transmitters.
