    Q:
How to replace the front brake caliper bracket (without J55) on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the front Brake Caliper Bracket (without J55), support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire after removing it from the mounting bracket in such a way that the hydraulic brake flexible hose stays attached, to avoid causing damage to its ends. Next, unscrew the brake pads and Brake Pad retainers from the Brake Caliper Bracket , Brake Caliper Bracket bolts , and then remove the bracket itself. Clean any dirt or rust from the Brake Caliper Bracket and do a rational check on it for cracks and damages and replace it if that is found to be necessary. Thorough the bolt threads and the threaded holes with denatured alcohol or equivalent (if needed) prior to installation allowing them to dry. Apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to two thirds of the length of the threaded area of the lower caliper bracket bolts so that there are no gaps and let it cure for roughly ten minutes before proceeding. Place the Brake Caliper Bracket onto the Steering Knuckle, then fasten and tighten the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts, to 185 nm (137 ft. Lbs). Spray a thin layer of niglube at the brake calper pin bits then fit the Brake Pad retainer in place with brake pads to the brake calper bracket and then fit the brake calper.
