    Q:
How to replace the parking brake cable on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to disable the park brake automatic adjuster while securely raising the vehicle to replace the park brake cable. The replacement of park brake cables requires removing the rear propeller shaft and releasing the parking brake cables from their accessories at the parking brake equalizer and retainer. The left park brake cable service does not require Fuel Tank removal because you should install a pole jack combined with a Fuel Tank block under the tank followed by removing the tank shield and rear support bracket. Leaving the Fuel Tank on the pole jack produces maximum retreat of four inches thus enabling access to the rear park brake cable retainer. To service the rear park brake cable, uninstall first the park brake cable retaining nuts at underbody mounting studs before detaching the park brake cable from its retainers and uninstalling the retaining bracket bolt from the frame. After depressing the retaining clips for the Parking Brake Cable you should remove the cable from the mounting bracket and actuator by pushing it toward the interior of the vehicle through the frame. Install the park brake cables by first placing them above the Fuel Tank assembly before drawing them out through the frame in the outward direction. Mount the park brake cable retaining nuts to underbody mounting studs before tightening them to 10 nm (7 ft. Lbs.). After that raise the Fuel Tank to install the rear support bracket and remove the pole jack. The actuator park brake cable installation requires users to fasten the unit to its location while pushing down the retaining clips. Next, workers should bolt the park brake retainer and retaining bracket into the frame but only use 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque. First reinstall the rear propeller shaft and lower the vehicle down before enabling the automatic adjuster for the park brake to test operation. Adjust the park brake cables if needed.
