    Q:
How to remove and install the Y-pipe and catalytic converter assembly on Chevrolet K3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Catalytic Converter should be serviced by first raising and supporting the vehicle. Take out the nuts from the y-pipe flat flange first and after that, pull out the Muffler and Catalytic Converter. After that, take out the nuts, studs and flange seals attached to the y-pipe and Exhaust Manifold. To start the installation, first, place the new flange seals and then put in the new studs and tighten them to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Join the new nuts with the y-pipe and Catalytic Converter and while doing so use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts to 64 n.m (47 lb ft). Put the y-pipe and Catalytic Converter assembly over the flat flange and secure the nuts to the bolts that come out of the flat flange, tightening to 64 n.m (47 lb ft). Be sure all is clear and in good alignment before taking the vehicle down.
