How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring on Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the inflatable restraint steering wheel module air bag clock spring, first turn off the sir, and then remove the steering column tires of the driving column trim covers. Detach the wire harness assembly from the wire harness strap while removing the three wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly and the wire harness strap from the upper tilt head assembly. Next, remove the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring retaining clip and the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring and take out the wave washer from the steering column upper shaft. For the installation align the block tooth in alignment with the upper shaft at the 12 high point with all fasteners seated properly before you follow it with the proper torque to prevent part failure. Mount the wave washer onto the steering column upper shaft while ensuring that the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring is in the center; it may get uncentered should the steering column is fur off from the steering gear or if centering spring is pushed out-of-focus with the coil moved. In case of being uncentered, proceed with proper centerings for standard or tilt column. Set the steering wheel module air bag clock spring aligning it to the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam and slide the pre-centered coil onto steering column upper shaft. Pull out and dispose the tab at its center, gently tug the coil assembly wire at the bottom to get rid of its bends, and make sure there are no curves on the sir coil assembly wire to forego interference with the shaft lock mechanism. Install the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring retaining ring to ensure that it is seated in the groove on upper shaft. Plug the wire harness assembly into the wire strap, attach the wire harness strap into the wire strap, and fix the wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly. Lastly, reinstall the steering column trim covers, and turn on the sir system.

    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Firstly, to change this inflatable restraint steering wheel air bag clock spring you will first need to disable the sir system and remove the steering column trim covers first. Remove the wire harness assembly from the wire harness strap and the three wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly, and the wire harness strap off the upper tilt head assembly. Subsequently, remove the sir steering wheel air bag clock spring retainer clip and the sir air bag clock spring, as well as take out the wave washer from the steering column upper shaft. For installation line up the block tooth on the upper shaft to the 12 o'clock, see that all fasteners should be fitted before applying the required torque to avoid component damage. Mount the wave washer onto the steering column upper shaft to ensure the sir air bag clock spring is aligned, because it may get misaligned when the steering column is removed from the steering gear or when the centering spring is compressed. If uncentered, the appropriate centering, standard or tilt column. Mount the clock spring in the middle of the turn signal cancel cam and slip the pre-centered clock spring onto the steering column upper shaft. Take off and throw away the centering tab, and carefully pull along the lower clock spring assembly wire to remove any kinks, which should avoid bending with a potential interference with the shaft lock mechanism. Mount the sir air bag clock spring retaining ring, making sure it is properly fitted into the groove of the upper shaft. Bring the wire harness assembly and place it back onto the wire strap, install the wire harness strap to the wire strap, and fasten the wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly. Lastly, re-install the steering column trim covers and switch on the sir system.

    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly on Chevrolet Suburban 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
First service air bag clock spring assembly demands disabling the sir system followed by Steering Wheel removal along with tilt lever (if present) and upper and lower steering column trim covers. Start by taking out the multi-function lever then push the wire harness assembly from its holder in the wire harness strap before removing all three wire harness straps along with the wire harness strap from the upper tilt head assembly. Next remove the clock spring retaining clip and clock spring because they both require removal of the wave washer. Secure all fasteners before torque application to stop component harm. After lining up the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly to face the 12 o'clock position of the air bag clock spring maintain precise centering before installing the wave washer. An un-centered state of the clock spring occurs when a separation occurs between the steering column and steering gear or when the centering spring presses down as technicians remove the clock spring. Set the pre-centered clock spring into position and dispose of the centering tab while using the horn tower to align with canceling cam assembly inner ring projections on the outer ring. Closely pull the lower clock spring wire while inspecting it for all kinks to guarantee clear paths for the shaft lock mechanism. Set the clock spring retaining ring inside the upper shaft assembly groove then position the wire harness assembly through the wire strap before mounting the wire harness strap to the upper tilt head assembly. Enable sir system only after you reassemble all components including 3 wire harness straps and multi-function switch lever and upper and lower steering column trim covers and tilt lever (if equipped) and Steering Wheel assembly.

How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The air bag clock spring assembly replacement process starts with an air bag system disablement followed by steering column trim cover removal. Remove the wire harness assembly from its wire harness strap before taking off each wire harness strap attached to the assembly then taking off the wire harness strap from the upper tilt head assembly. Start by taking out the retaining clip for the air bag clock spring followed by the clock spring itself. After this remove the wave washer from the upper shaft of the steering column. Position the block tooth on the upper shaft at the 12 o'clock mark before securing all fasteners then tighten using specified torque to maintain component integrity. The installer should put the wave washer onto the steering column upper shaft while monitoring that the air bag clock spring stays centered. The installation process needs to avoid making the clock spring become uncentered. Position the air bag clock spring correctly against the horn tower of the turn signal cancel cam before you place the pre-centered air bag clock spring onto the steering column upper shaft. To avoid shaft lock mechanism interference discard the centering tab and gently straighten the lower clock spring assembly wire before installation. Trap the air bag clock spring retaining ring into the upper shaft groove before continuing. After securing first the wire harness assembly to the wire strap then the wire harness strap to the wire strap complete the procedure by attaching the wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly. Replace the trim covers on the steering column then activate the air bag system.

How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the Steering Wheel on GMC Safari? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the air bag clock spring, have to first disable the sir system. Uncover the steering column trim covers and then unbolt the wire harness assembly from the wire harness strap and unbolt the three wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly. Next, remove the wire harness strap from the upper tilt head assembly and remove the sir air bag clock spring retaining clip followed by the sir air bag clock spring. Additionally, take off the wave washer from the steering column upper shaft. For installation, mounted the figure toeoh on the high continuous at the 00 the exact time and complete all fastenings in advance as the required topping to prevent damage to the components. Mount the wave washer onto the steering column upper shaft, so that the sir air bag clock spring is centered, as it can be discentered when the steering column is separated from the steering gear, or the centering spring is compressed. Adjust the sir air bag clock spring with the horn tower of the turn signal cancel cam and attach the pre-centered sir air bag clock spring onto the steering column upper shaft. Terminate and remove centering tab and pull on the lower coil assembly wire to get rid of any kinks ensuring you are left with no kinks or bends that could interfere with the shaft lock mechanism. Equip the sir air bag clock spring retaining ring firmly in the groove on the upper shaft. While replacing the wire harness assembly into the wire strap then wire harness strap into the wire strap, and finally attaching the wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly. After that, install back the steering column trims covers and activate the sir system.
