    Q:
How to replace the rear differential cover and gasket on 9.75, 10.5, and 10.75 inch axles on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by raising the vehicle and cleaning the rear axle fill plug area before plugin removal when replacing housing cover and gasket parts on 9.75, 10.5, and 10.75 inch axles. Take the rear axle housing cover bolts off the assembly while discarding them before carefully removing the cover by draining the lubricant into a suitable container. Examine the bottom surface of the rear axle housing for wearing that shows itself through accumulated metal particles. After this inspection check both the axle housing and the cover for remaining sealant before installation of new hardware. Apply GM P/N 12346240 or Canadian P/N 10953493 sealant at a height of 3.18-6.35 mm (1/8-1/4 in) and width spanning the entire cover. Position the sealant on the rear axle housing cover's middle flange area and inside all bolt hole openings. The new rear axle housing cover installation requires untapped hardware while tightening new bolts to 61 N.m (45 lb ft). After 1 hour of sealant curing time fill the axle with correct lubrication before installing the rear axle fill plug with 33 N.m (24 lb ft) torque. Then lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the rear differential cover and gasket on 9.75 Inch and 10.5 Inch axles on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace for the rear axle housing cover and gasket on 9.75 inch and 10.5 inch axles, first, lift the vehicle, clean the surrounding of the rear axle fill plug before removing it. Next, unscrew the rear axle housing cover bolts and dispose of them, and carefully unscrew the rear axle housing cover from the axle housing, draining the lubricant into an appropriate container. Turn the rear axle housing upside down if necessary, and drain the cavity at the bottom into the oil drain riser or pan for inspection purposes. Remove any sealant on the rear axle housing cover, and thereafter, inspect the bottom of rear axle housing for undesirable metal particles, this may be seen as severe wear. For installation, make a bead of gm p/n 12346240 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or equivalent approx. 3.18 - 6.35mm (1/8 1/4 in ) high and wide and apply it in the middle of the cover flange for the rear axle housing and around all bolt hole openings. Drill and mount the new rear axle housing cover securely with new rear axle housing cover bolts by using new rear axle housing cover bolts and tighten them to 61 nm (45ft. Lbs.). Let the sealant cure for 1 hour and then put the right amount of lubricant into the axle, reinstall the rear axle fill plug and tighten it to 33 nr.m (24 ft. Lbs) before you lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the rear differential cover and gasket for the 8.6 and 9.5 Inch Axle on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the rear axle housing cover and gasket for the 8.6 and 9.5 Inch Axle, Initial, raise, and support the vehicle. Clean the surrounding of the rear axle fill plug and remove its plug then remove the rear axle housing cover bolt that should be trashed. Gently remove the rear axle housing cover, allowing the lubricant to drain into a suitable container, and remove any gasket material from the rear axle housing as well as the cover. Check the bottom of the rear axle housing for an excess of metal particles, and it can serve for extreme wear. Secondly, put the rear axle housing cover with a new gasket on the axle housing, but again not using the old rear axle housing cover bolts. Replace new rear axle housing cover bolts and tighten in a crossshape pattern 40 Nm (30 lbft). Fill the rear axle with the right fluid, put the rear axle fill plug back on and put it on the top. Line it up, and it has to be 33 Nm (24 lb ft). Finally, take the support and lower the vehicle.
