After that remove the Axle Shaft seal. Start by installing the new Axle Shaft seal then put on the Axle Shaft prior to reattaching the tire and wheel assembly followed by lowering the vehicle.

The replacement process for the outer rear Axle Shaft seal begins by using suitable vehicle lifting tools to elevate the vehicle. Start by removing first the tire wheel assembly and afterwards the Axle Shaft. The Axle Shaft removal step should be followed by removal of the Axle Shaft seal. The new Axle Shaft seal must be placed first before reinstalling the Axle Shaft. Reinstall the tire and wheel before proceeding to lower the vehicle.

You need to raise your vehicle before removing the wheel and tire and then the Differential assembly. The replacement process requires using a small expanding driver and driving washer from the expander assembly system after correctly aligning separation lines. The driver bar extension should be equipped with the expander assembly before the driver bar attachment. The camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) should be inserted through the Axle Shaft seal along with the axle tube. Utilize the hand to hold the expander assembly nut as the driving bar is rotated clockwise until it tightens against the seal. Affectively drive out the seal using the camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) operated by a hammer. To install the drive bar extension connect it to the drive bar of the camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) before inserting it into the opposite side Axle Shaft tube. Use the Differential seal installer - inner (J 45177) attached to the camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) to insert the Axle Shaft seal into its fitting in the axle tube. Drive the Axle Shaft seal into the axle tube with the combination of Differential seal installer - inner (J 45177), camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) and a hammer. The last step includes reinstallation of the Differential assembly combined with axle shafts and tire and wheel assembly as well as lowering the vehicle.

Proper lifting equipment enables the replacement of the outer rear Axle Shaft seal. The first step is to remove the tire and wheel assembly while subsequent steps include removing both the Axle Shaft. One must extract the Axle Shaft seal after completing the previous steps. To service and repair the rear Axle Shaft seal or bearing, the tools that are needed include: j 8092 universal driver handle - 3/4 in - 1 validator (J 8092), j 21128 axle pinion oil seal installer (J 21128), j 23690 bearing installer (J 23690), j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01 and J 45857 Tone Wheel or Bearing Remover (J 45857). Start with lifting the vehicle and taking off the tire and wheel assembly. Secondly, unscrew the rear axle housing cover, as well as the Axle Shaft. To remove the seal only, you can use a suitable seal remover. For the removal of the Axle Shaft seal and the bearing as combined from the axle housing, use j 45857 and j 2619-01. A professional technician requires an axle remover item j 45859 to address the wheel-related mechanical issues of a 4wd car. For this task first lift the vehicle and then take off the tire wheel rotor in this sequence. Separate the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt from the knuckle and disconnect the brake hose bracket's bolt. Also remove the wheel drive shaft nut retaining cover. Installing the wheel drive shaft requires fresh nut replacement. Untighten the wheel drive shaft retaining nut along with its washer from the shaft using proper tools and disengage the Wheel Hub and bearing. Clean and prepare both the steering knuckle bore and Wheel Hub and bearing assembly before applying wheel bearing grease or equivalent lubricant in the bore. Place the o-ring on the steering knuckle for 25/35 models before tightening the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt to 18 nm (13 ft lbs). Put both Wheel Hub and bearing units together with their splash shields onto the vehicle for 25/35 models and then put on Wheel Hub with bearing and splash shield for 15 series models. Fasten the Wheel Hub mounting bolts at 180 nm (133 ft.lbs) for the 15 series then put on the 25/35 series bolts and tighten Wheel Hub bolts to 180 nm (133 ft.lbs). Secure the wheel drive shaft with a washer and nut through the Wheel Hub then tighten the nut to 280 nm before fitting the Wheel Speed Sensor bracket to the steering knuckle. Proceed by placing the rotor tire and wheel on the vehicle and allow it to drop.

Start the inner rear Axle Shaft seal replacement by first raising the vehicle and removing the tire and wheel assembly together with the axle shafts and Differential assembly. Mount the smallest expanding driver and small driving washer onto the expander assembly so their separation lines remain aligned with each other. First place the expander assembly between the driver bar extension and driver bar. The camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) needs to be inserted through the Axle Shaft seal until it reaches the axle tube. Turn the driving bar clockwise against the Axle Shaft seal while holding the expander assembly nut. Drive out the seal using a hammer together with a camshaft bearing service set (J 33049). During installation feed the drive bar extension from the camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) into the opposite side Axle Shaft tube. Place the Differential seal installer inner (part J 45177) onto the camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) and fit the axle tube with the Axle Shaft seal. Use Differential seal installer - inner (J 45177) together with camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) to drive the Axle Shaft seal into the tube by holding the tools with a hammer. The repair process requires final installation of the Differential assembly and axle shafts together with tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.

First, raise and support the vehicle in order to replace the rear Axle Shaft seal or bearing. Believe it or not, remove the tire and the wheel assembly, and then pull off the rear axle housing cover. Next, remove the Axle Shaft. To disengage the Axle Shaft seal and bearing from the axle housing, for the 8.6 axle, use the j 44685 - rear axle seal and bearing remover and the j 2619-01 - slide hammer. For the 9.5 or 9.75 axle use the j 29712 - wheel bearing remover to do the same job. In installing on the 8.6 axle, use the j 23690 - Axle Shaft bearing installer and the j 8092 - universal driver handle in fitting the Axle Shaft bearing until the tool hits against the axle tube and apply the j 21128 - axle pinion oil seal installer in seating the Axle Shaft seal into the axle tube. For the 9.5 or 9.75 axle the set j 29712 - wheel bearing remover for the bearing and j 29713 - axle seal installer for the seal. Once the installation is complete, reinstall the Axle Shaft, put the rear axle housing cover on, and place the tire and wheel assembly back in place. Lastly, spin the rear axle with lubricant and remove the support in order to lower the vehicle.

Install the new axle shaft seal.

Assemble it onto the driver bar extension and then onto the drive bar.

Install the O-ring to the steering knuckle of the 25/35 series, then install the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt, tightening it to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).

Install the wheel hub and bearing and splash shield to the vehicle for the 25/35 series.

Raise the vehicle and drain the differential carrier assembly.

Put the tire and wheel assembly back on and fill the rear axle with the appropriate differential oil.

Utilize the J 29712 (Wheel Bearing Remover).

Raise the vehicle using appropriate lifting equipment.

It is crucial to use a new nut.

Install the axle shaft seal using the J 21128, driving it into the bore until it is flush with the tube.

Use the axle seal installer (J 45225) and the universal driver handle (J 8092) for the new axle shaft seal.

The Camshaft Bearing Service Set (J 33049).

Begin by raising the vehicle and draining the differential carrier assembly.

Fill the differential carrier assembly with the correct fluid and lower the vehicle.

Use the appropriate J 29369-1 or J 29369-2 behind the inner axle shaft seal or bearing, then attach the J 2619-01 to remove it.

Use a suitable seal removal tool to extract the seal.

Assemble the expander assembly onto the driver bar extension and then onto the driver bar.

J 8092 Universal Driver Handle, J 2619-01 Slide Hammer, J 29369-1 Bushing and Bearing Remover, J 29369-2 Bushing and Bearing Remover (2-3 inch), J 36609 Axle Tube Bearing Installer, and J 45225 Axle Seal Installer.

Remove the differential carrier assembly, secure it in a vise, and repeat the removal process for the inner axle shaft and seal.

Fill the differential carrier assembly with the correct fluid and lower the vehicle.
