Start by cleaning the rear axle cover area before raising your vehicle to replace the rear axle housing cover along with its gasket. Put a storage container beneath the axle before removing the rear axle cover fasteners. You will need the lubricant from the axle as you use the pry tool to free the rear axle cover. Drain all the lubricant out of the axle housing. Per the replacement process you must first extract the fill plug until you clean the exchange surfaces found between the axle housing and rear axle cover surfaces. To install the new gasket and rear axle cover you must crosswise tighten the rear axle cover bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Squeeze axle lubricant into the housing through the proper fluid channel before tightening the fill plug to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.

The first step to remove and replace the rear axle housing components requires vehicle elevation along with draining the rear axle. Use an appropriate drain pan to contain the oil and remove gasket material from both rear axle housing and rear axle housing cover while removing the rear axle housing cover bolts and taking off the rear axle housing cover from the axle housing. Position the rear axle housing cover on the housing surface together with its gasket before installing the rear axle housing cover bolts by crisscrossing the pattern when tightening to 39 nm (29 ft. Lbs.). Before vehicle descent complete the rear axle fluid installation and maintenance routines as per specifications.

Vehicle elevation followed by proper support forms the first step to service and repair the differential cover. The area beneath the rear axle housing should receive complete dirt removal before beginning the cover removal process. Start by removing the rear axle housing cover bolts/screws then pull out the parking brake cable guides. Remove the rear axle housing cover after prying it loose for the lubricant to drain. Brake Parts Cleaner should be used to clean both sides of the rear axle housing cover gasket surfaces before installation. The next step includes installation of a new rear axle housing cover gasket before fitting the cover and the park brake cable guides. Follow a crosswise pattern to drain lubricant and tighten rear axle housing cover bolts/screws to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Fill the lubricant into the rear axle before lowering down the vehicle.

You should apply the correct fluid to the axle housing before placing the fill plug in position and tightening it to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
