    You need to remove the rear Wiper Motor before working on 2004-2006 buick rainier and other mentioned model years to replace their liftgate lock cylinder. Free the lock cylinder from its rod before removing the c clip from the groove of the lock cylinder and taking it out of the liftgate. Easy installation requires you to setup the new lock cylinder in the liftgate followed by inserting the c clip in its groove. Then reconnect the lock rod and put back the Wiper Motor.

    The first step to changing the liftgate lock cylinder is to take off the rear Wiper Motor and afterwards remove the lock rod from the lock cylinder. Then, remove the c clip which is in the groove of the lock cylinder and pull out the lock cylinder from the liftgate. To put the lock cylinder back, snap it into place in the liftgate, put the c clip in the groove, reconnect the lock rod, and lastly install the rear Wiper Motor.
