How to remove and replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must disconnect the battery power then take out the knee bolster before handling the Body Control Module. Connect the brown bcm connector last and switch ignition off while joining all power connectors to the bcm. The bcm detects faults without engine power and protects the courtesy lamps from self-discharge but cannot identify incoming signals or controlled circuits. Insert the scan tool in power down now mode to test circuits whose operation lies outside bcm and battery run down protection control. Start by detaching the brown plug then remove all other connectors from the bcm before taking it off the sliding bracket. You put the bcm on its bracket then join all attachments except the brown one before you connect it and put back the knee bolster with negative battery cables.
