    Q:
Why is it essential to inspect and replace seat belt systems after a collision on Cadillac Escalade EXT? Posted by Customer
    A:
Safety depends on inspecting and replacing seat belts after a crash event. All seat belt systems that encountered serious collisions requiring automatic safety system activations need replacement together with built-in automatic restraint devices like air bags and seat belt pretensioners. The replacement of all seat belt systems and failure-prone components affects adult occupancies as well as child restraint devices which cover LATCH system components and top tether anchorages. All seat belt system components should undergo replacement including adult seat belts together with built-in child restraints and parts from the LATCH system. The seat belt system requires replacement when either the warning words "REPLACE" or "CAUTION" appear or when a yellow tag is present yet do not replace the system solely based on the child seat caution label visibility. When there are doubts regarding seat belt system condition it is necessary to replace it. Each vehicle involved in a crash needs complete replacement of its seat belt system starting from buckles through guides before there is room for replacing any single component in the system.

    Q:
How to replace the center front seat belt on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Only Parts listed in GM's component catalog should be used for center front seat belt replacement work to avoid personal injury. Start by unwiring the center front seat belt ladder bolt then disconnect the seat belt latch assembly from the automobile body. Remove the buckle assembly from the seat by taking out the center front seat belt buckle bolt. The installation requires attaching the seat belt buckle assembly to the center front seat before fastening it with the buckle bolt and tightening it to 53 N.m (39 lb ft). Screw the center front seat belt latch assembly onto the seat while using the latch bolt and tighten it to 53 N.m (39 lb ft). Make sure the belt latch securely fits into its buckle position before users can deliberately end the retention.
