    Q:
How to replace non-demountable rear brake drums on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Raise your vehicle and put appropriate safety stands under it first before starting replacement tasks on the non-demountable rear brake drums. Put the pin into the park brake lever before removing the tire and wheel units for future installation reference. If the retainers exist you should take them off before you can remove the Brake Drum from your vehicle. Find the relationship mark first and place the Brake Drum properly onto the axle. Install the rear Brake Drum retainers when you put back these parts. Apply all components back into their proper positions starting with removing the pin from the park brake lever and replacing the wheel and tire. Then tighten the rear brakes to the recommended specifications. Finally take off safety stands to lower the vehicle. Keep brake parts wet when cleaning to block asbestos dust and do not grind or sand linings while using dry cleaning brushes or air spray causes health risks.

    Q:
How to service and repair the brake drum on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start brake drum servicing by getting the Rotor Resurfacing Kit (J 41013). For effective service the brake drums need to stay untouched despite brake noise complaints or other general surface issues. Refinish the brake drum only when the groove depth exceeds its specifications and causes strong pulsating or when the drum body shows excessive roundness levels beyond permitted ranges. The brake drum needs replacement when the largest measurement by micrometer goes past the refurbishment limit. Use the Rotor Resurfacing Kit (J 41013) or a suitable alternative to clean all rust from the brake drum flange surface. Follow brake lathe manufacturer instructions to refinish the brake drum because only excellent braking surface finish delivers proper vehicle stopping power. After machining sand the brake surface with 120 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper to make it non-directional then clean it with brake parts cleaner GM P/N 12377981 or equivalent.

    Q:
How to service and repair the parking brake drum on GMC C3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Open the parking brake, lift the vehicle and hold it up with safety stands to proceed with the repairs. Remove the propeller shaft and after that, take out the nut and washer on a manual transmission or the bolt and washer on an automatic transmission. First, disconnect the drum and yoke assembly, then take off the bolts and washers and finally remove the drum from the yoke. During installation, join the drum to the yoke and make sure to tighten the bolts and washers using 37 nm (27 ft. Lbs.) of force. After that, set the drum and yoke in place and install the washer and nut (for manual) or the washer and bolt (for automatic) and secure them with the torque recommended. The last thing to do is fit the propeller shaft and bring the boat back down on the ground.
