Evaporator Core

A proper replacement of the auxiliary evaporator core in a 4-door vehicle begins with refrigerant recovery. You need to remove the rear quarter interior trim according to requirement together with disconnecting all auxiliary refrigerant hoses from the auxiliary evaporator while also unplugging the needed electrical connectors. Begin the evaporator case cover removal process by unscrewing the case screws attached to the rear quarter sheet metal before taking out the blower housing then the 10 case clips and at last separating the case halves. You must first remove both the pipe insulator and the evaporator core from the rest of the components. Placing the new evaporator core should be the first step followed by pipe insulation installation. Secure the evaporator case cover through screw attachment of the clips. Place the auxiliary case back into the vehicle then connect all required refrigerant and electrical components to the auxiliary evaporator. The last step requires reattaching the right rear quarter trim panel.

The Evaporator core replacement process begins after disconnecting both negative cable battery access and draining engine coolant fluid. The recovery process of refrigerant should be completed before moving on to the instrument panel removal and required electrical connector detachment. The floor air outlet needs to be removed but you must also remove the powertrain control module when working on diesel engines. The first step involves removing hinge pillar trim panels in addition to withdrawing the Blower Motor cover together with the Blower Motor. Start by removing the Steering Column followed by a panel back-tilt of the instrument panel assembly. To start the process you must remove the coolant recovery reservoir and disconnect both heater hoses as well as the Evaporator tube before removing the accumulator. The module assembly requires assistance for unscrewing the nuts at positions 1 and 4 along with the screws and nut. In order to remove the cover plate from beneath the Evaporator case you must detach seven screws. Next install the Heater Core and seal onto the module assembly. When working on the Evaporator detachment from the module assembly use a screwdriver to remove four screws to detach the case cover before taking out the Evaporator core. Secure the new Evaporator core within position while adding oil if replacing and fasten the case cover with four screws. You should start by fitting the Heater Core together with its seal into the module assembly before placing seven screws into the cover plate. Reinstall the module assembly while requesting assistance when needed and secure the assembly with the screw and nut and screws (1,4). Secure the module mounting screw to 11 n.m (97 lb in) and the nut to 2.8 n.m (25 lb in) and both the screws (1, 4) to 1.9 n.m (17 lb in). Reinstall the accumulator before you join the Evaporator tube to the heater hoses followed by the coolant recovery reservoir. The technician should reposition all components from the instrument panel through floor air outlet and ensure proper electrical connector connections during this process. Fully fill the engine with coolant before dropping a negative Battery Cable and charging the system then searching for any leakage.

As the first step to replace the Evaporator core start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and draining engine coolant from the system. First recover both refrigerants then disconnect each heater hose. You need to remove the accumulator and instrument panel carrier with the hvac module drain hose. Disconnect all electrical harnesses along with ground connections when needed before removing hvac module mounting nuts and screws to extract the assembly which gets placed on a bench. First remove screws from the hvac module before splitting it open to expose the Evaporator core before extracting it. Place the new Evaporator core before reassembling the hvac module halves in a proper manner using screws that should be tightened to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). The hvac module assembly requires installation in the vehicle by applying 4 n.m (35 lb in) force on the mounting screws along with 9 n.m (80 lb in) on the mounting nuts. After proper electrical harness and ground connection reinstallation, the hvac module drain hose and instrument panel carrier and accumulator should be installed. You should connect the heater hoses and negative Battery Cable to service the hvac system by filling the engine coolant reservoir and charging the a/c system.

Reinstall the auxiliary HVAC module assembly into the vehicle, securing it with two bolts inside the vehicle.
