Muffler & Pipe

The first step in Muffler replacement starts by raising and supporting the vehicle while following the proper methods for vehicle lifting. Customers must carefully follow the Catalytic Converter movement notice specified in service precautions. First support the exhaust system and unscrew the Catalytic Converter bolts (N/A) and then remove the Catalytic Converter gasket (N/A). Remove the exhaust hanger insulators (N/A) from the Muffler before taking the Muffler off its support system. Install the Muffler onto its support before installing exhaust hanger insulators (N/A) on the Muffler. Apply the Catalytic Converter gasket (N/A) before tightening the Catalytic Converter bolts (N/A) to a torque of 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Last step: remove the exhaust system support and perform leak tests while checking for underbody touchpoints before lowering the vehicle.

Replacement of the exhaust crossover pipe starts by removing the air cleaner intake duct before taking off the thermostat bypass pipe. First remove the exhaust crossover pipe nuts and then its crossover pipe. The second step involves unbolting the crossover heat shield from its brackets before removing the heat shield itself. First place the exhaust crossover pipe into position according to the fastener notice in service precautions and tighten the exhaust crossover pipe nuts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the bolts that secure both the exhaust crossover heat shield and its bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) torque before installing the thermostat bypass pipe then the air cleaner intake duct.

Ensure to adhere to the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts and the heat shield itself.

Place the exhaust crossover pipe in position, adhering to the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Support the exhaust system and remove the catalytic converter bolts and gasket.
