    Q:
How to Properly Replace a Brake Disc on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start replacing the front Brake Disc by lifting and stabilizing your vehicle before taking off the wheel and tire set. Put a c-clamp tool j 41013 onto the caliper piston until it pushes into place enough to let the caliper slide from the disc surface. After that, remove the c-clamp. Holding up the brake caliper stops damage to its hydraulic flexible brake hose. Separate the caliper bracket bolts without disconnecting the brake flexible hose bolts and carefully take off the caliper unit with its bracket while keeping hydraulic tension off the flexible brake hose. Use the alignment marks to put the new Brake Disc on the wheel studs and take it off. Before adding the new disc you should clean rust and debris from the hub/axle flange using the Wheel Hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and clean any contaminants found on the Brake Disc using the rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013). Put the new Brake Disc in place on the hub/axle flange and fit it based on the matching marks you have. Check the lateral runout of the assembled Brake Disc and adjust it when the measurement crosses manufacturer limits. Put back all parts in their original position except if you replaced or refinished the disc which needs a pad and disc burnishing process.

    Q:
How to replace the front brake disc on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the front Brake Disc replacement by elevating and stabilizing your vehicle. Apply j 41013 c-clamp over the brake caliper body to push the piston and create enough space for the caliper to move away from the disc. After removing the c-clamp install heavy mechanic wire to maintain the brake caliper in its position while avoiding damage to the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Remove the caliper bracket bolts without disconnecting the brake flexible hose bolt. Separate the brake caliper and caliper mounting bracket as an assembly while maintaining tension-free conditions on the hydraulic brake flexible hose. Perform Brake Disc matchmarking to the wheel studs before removing the Brake Disc. Clean the hub/axle flange using the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) while cleaning the Brake Disc with the rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013) before disc installation. Install the Brake Disc to the hub/axle flange at the correct alignment position marked by matchmarks. Carefully take measurements of the Brake Disc lro with the wheel attached for reaching optimal brake performance levels. You need to modify the lro when it goes beyond the established specifications. Put the brake caliper along with its bracket back onto the suspension knuckle and put back the tire assembly and wheel along with lowering the vehicle. Also perform pad and disc burnishing when re-processing the Brake Disc.
