    Q:
How to clean the throttle body properly on GMC Jimmy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin Throttle Body cleaning by removing the air cleaner outlet duct to inspect the Throttle Body bore along with throttle valve plate deposits and verify that the throttle valve remains open for comprehensive evaluation. Using immersion cleaners or strong solvents on assemblies with throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve or sealed throttle shaft bearings can harm electric components and seals or o-rings and may deteriorate the grease used in non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings. Use wire brushes or scrapers only on Throttle Body components as they can cause damage and never apply cleaners which contain methyl ethyl ketone. Clean the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate with gm top engine cleaner p/n 1052626 or ac-delco carburetor tune-up conditioner p/n x66-p but made sure no shop towel drips during use. Excessive deposits require you to separate the Throttle Body parts for cleaning with a parts cleaning brush that should not come in contact with solvents. Install the Throttle Body after cleaning through the steps of Throttle Body assembly replacement then install the throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve before reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct.
