    Q:
How to replace the throttle body assembly on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the Throttle Body assembly, drain the system of coolant first, partially. Loosen the hose clamps to detach the air intake ducts and coolant hoses from the engine and then detach the atmospheric vent hose from the bottom of the Throttle Body. After the blog header pictures, remove the throttle position (TP) sensor supply wire and the Throttle Body assembly mounting bolts as well as the tp sensor Throttle Body assembly. For installation fit together the Throttle Body assembly with the tp sensor ensuring the o-rings seal themselves to the intake plenum. Mount the Throttle Body assembly fitting bolts and tighten to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Reattach the hoses of the atmospheric vent and coolant, then install the hose clamps for the air intake duct hose by screwing them tightly up to 3 n.m with 27 lb in). Connect the tp sensor electrical connector, do idle learn, and check the engine uses a lot of coolant, and add it if required.

    A:
To service the Throttle Body, first remove the air intake duct services from the Throttle Body making sure that the ignition is turned off so that the throttle blade doesn't move uncontrolled and harm you. Check the Throttle Body bore, on the throttle valve plate for any deposits and see it is open throttle valve and check all surface. With the Throttle Body cover off, clean the Throttle Body bore and the throttle valve plate using a clean shop towel with top engine cleaner (GM P/N 1052626 or Canadian P/N 993026) or ac-delco carburetor tune-up conditioner (P/N X66-P) but not any solvent containing methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) because it could harm fuel system items. Once cleaned, reconnect the air intake ducts to the Throttle Body and check whether there are air leaks.
