Start by removing the endgate cover when replacing the tailgate handle. First use a screwdriver to disconnect the clips which secure the endgate latch rods to the endgate handle before taking out the rods from the clips. Then you should remove the bolts that connect the endgate handle to its position before removing the handle itself. When equipment includes a lock cylinder, follow installation steps to remove it from the endgate handle. Begin installation by inserting the lock cylinder into the endgate handle when equipped then secure the handle to the endgate. The endgate handle bolts need to be installed onto the endgate before torquing to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Connect the endgate latch rods through retaining clips installed onto endgate handle before attaching those clips to the handle. Finally, install the endgate cover.

Start by removing the endgate cover before beginning tailgate handle replacement. After removing the endgate latch rods from their retaining clips users can detach the clips. You should extract the bolts that fasten the endgate handle to the endgate before you can remove the handle. Remove the endgate handle lock cylinder when equipped. Reattach the lock cylinder into the endgate handle when equipped before attaching the handle to the endgate. After handle installation make sure to fasten its securing bolts with 9 Nm (80 lb in) torque. Reinstall endgate latch rods into retaining clips on endgate handle which needs clips to attach the rods. Finally, reinstall the endgate cover.

The lock cables.

Position the new rear outside door handle onto the rear door and install the bolts, tightening them to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

Connect the lock cylinder rod to the lock cylinder using the retaining clip and the outside door handle rod to the door handle with the retaining clip.

Slide the inside door handle rearward to release the retaining tabs from the door inner panel.

Insert it between the door handle and the door, then press the spring clip off the door handle.

Reinstall the front door water deflector and the front door trim panel.

Press the handle in until the spring clip retaining the handle is fully seated.

Attach the handle to the rear side access door control assembly.

Insert the retaining tabs into the slots of the door inner panel and slide the handle forward until the retainers are fully engaged.

Disconnect the clips that retain the endgate latch rods to the endgate handle, then remove the latch rods from the clips.

Remove the bolts that secure the outside door handle to the door and take the handle out.

Install the lock cables inside the door handle.

Remove the bolts securing the rear outside door handle to the door.

Attach the lock cables to the inside door handle.

Insert the inside door handle retaining tabs into the slots of the door inner panel.

Disconnect the lock cables from the inside door handle and remove the handle from the door.

Reinstall the front door water deflector and the front door trim panel.
