    Q:
How to replace the thermostat on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace a Thermostat, drain the cooling system, take out the intake plenum, and the Intake Manifold. Next remove the Power Steering Reservoir bracket bolt and bracket and reposition the Power Steering Reservoir. Take the radiator inlet hose clamp off, followed by removing the radiator inlet hose from the Thermostat outlet pipe. Remove the thermostats outlet pipe bolt and Thermostat outlet pipe, discard the o-rings and remove the o-ring seals from thermostats outlet pipe. Remove the bolts and Thermostat Housing, and discard the seal ring, after getting rid of the o-rings. For installation, begin fitting a new seal ring and the Thermostat with the Thermostat outlet house into the engine, while ensuring that the Thermostat outlet bolts are fitted and then tightened to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Lubricate two new o-rings with coolant and insert them into the Thermostat outlet pipe, and the Thermostat outlet pipe and the Thermostat outlet pipe bolt, which should also need to be tightened to 20 nm (15ft. Lbs.). Next, install the radiator inlet hose to the Thermostat outlet pipe and fasten it with the radiator inlet hose clamp. Replace the Power Steering Reservoir and the power steering box, tightening the Power Steering Reservoir bracket bolt to 7nm 62 inch lbs. Lastly replace the Intake Manifold and intake plenum, and complete the filling of the cooling system.
