    How to replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer

    The Ignition Control Module (ICM) needs to be replaced by turning off the ignition first. Take out the accelerator cable from the bracket. Then take out the accelerator cable bracket bolt and bracket. When removing the icm, disconnect the icm harness connector, remove the icm retaining screws, and remove the icm from the ignition coil housing. For installation, install the new icm into the ignition coil housing with the interconnect and seal correctly aligned before tightening the retaining screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Connect the icm harness connector; reinstall the accelerator cable bracket and tighten it with bracket bolt at 10 n.m (18 lb in). Finally use a bracket to attach the accelerator cable on the bracket.

    To replace the Ignition Control Module, disconnect the ignition control module electrical connector, remove the ignition control module screws, take the module out from ignition coil housing. For installation, install the ignition control module into the ignition coil housing with the interconnect and seal properly aligned before fastening. Then fit in the ignition control module screws after which it should be tightened to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) and lastly, plug-in the ignition control module electrical connector.
