The first step to replace the seat cushion trim cover together with pad involves removing front nuts from the seat cushion underside followed by taking off the front seat trim panel. The lumbar cable needs unsnapping followed by disconnecting the lumbar wire harness when power lumbar is present. The pressure sensor along with electrical connectors needs to be removed from the front passenger seat frame part of the Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System. You should first lift off the seat cushion from its rear plastic holders before pulling forward and then removing the seat switch bezel and lumbar actuator. Use a side motion to carefully pull apart the seat cushion pad from the seat cushion frame trim cover which has been unclipped from its frame. A full replacement of the passenger presence system assemblage demands immediate attention because its components including bladder and pressure sensor with seat cushion and control module need installation as a complete system to prevent injuries. The replacement of a front passenger seat cushion requires a complete replacement of the Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System. Before installing the pad you must first disassemble the seat cushion frame as well as the seat cushion heater element when such components exist. Install the seat cushion heater elements first and then the Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System for the installation process. Apply the seat cushion to its frame before extending the cover smoothly from one side over the frame pad. After attaching the seat trim cover to the seat cushion frame the technician needs to install the lumbar actuator and the seat switch bezel. The cushion installation requires positioning its backside on the rear plastic holders before pushing it into the seat direction. Route the lumbar cable together with the lumbar wire harness for power lumbar capability and mount the pressure sensor to the front passenger seat frame when necessary before connecting electrical connectors. Insert the front nuts through the studs below the cushion before fitting them with 21 N.m (15 lb ft) torque while replacing the front seat trim panel. The procedure ends with setting the Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System to zero.

Remove the seat switch bezel and the lumbar actuator.

Unclip the seat trim cover from the seat cushion frame and carefully separate it using a side motion.
