    Q:
How to service and repair the Transmission Pan for the 4L80-E/4L85-E automatic transmission on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to service the 4l80-e/4l85-e automatic transmission fluid pan requires vehicle lifting and positioning a drain pan beneath the transmission oil pan. Service personnel must first remove the oil pan Drain Plug when present before removing the oil pan bolts to extract the oil pan. Proceed by taking out the gasket together with the magnet and Oil Filter and filter neck seal while ensuring to check the gasket for re-use and thoroughly clean both transmission case and Oil Pan Gasket surfaces with solvent. Start by installing the filter neck seal followed by the Oil Filter when performing installation. Fit the magnet into the bottom of the pan and mount the Oil Pan Gasket onto the pan surface. The transmission requires installation of its oil pan by using seventeen bolts which need to be torqued to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Before installation of the Drain Plug users should use gm p/n 12346004 sealant on threads and should tighten it to 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Position the vehicle at the correct height after which you should add dexron(R) vi transmission fluid until it reaches the specified level.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Transmission Pan for the 4L60-E/4L65-E/4L70-E automatic transmission on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start your fluid pan service or repair of the 4l60-e/4l65-e/4l70-e automatic transmission by supporting the vehicle and placing a drain pan underneath the transmission oil pan. The range selector cable bracket must be positioned to one side by removing its bolts if required prior to lowering the pan. This should occur without detaching the cable from the lever or bracket while the oil pan Drain Plug remains in place. Begin by taking out the Catalytic Converter but keep the oil pan bolts situated at the front portion of the pan and sides until you loosen the bolts located at the back by about 4 turns. A rubber mallet should be used to tap the oil pan lightly so fluid drains out before you can remove the remaining bolts and the oil pan together with its gasket. Use pliers to detach the filter seal from the pump only if the seal gets stuck before you can grasp the filter for proper rotation to remove both pieces. Then discard the seal. Check the fluid tone and filter state for signs of clutch material as well as analyze if it contains bronze flakes or steel chips. Solvent should be used for cleaning transmission case and oil pan gasket surfaces until all residue from the old gasket disappears. Apply automatic transmission fluid on the new filter seal before installing it into the transmission case while tapping it in position with an appropriate socket size. Next install the new filter using automatic transmission fluid for lubrication; afterward install the oil pan with its new gasket before tightening all bolts between 11 n.m (97 lb in) to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Secure the range selector cable bracket and Catalytic Converter through bolts which need 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque. Use gm p/n 12346004 sealant on the threads of the oil pan Drain Plug when present before installing it at 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Lower the vehicle before filling the transmission with dexron(R) vi transmission fluid to the correct level while checking the cold fluid mark for the first time only. Perform an inspection for any oil pan gasket leaks afterward.

    Q:
How to replace the transmission pan on GMC Yukon XL 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the Oil Pan begins with raising the vehicle before measuring transmission fluid loss because fluid in good condition can be reused. Transferring fluid from the Oil Pan requires you to remove Drain Plug and Drain Plug seal so the fluid flows into a suitable receptacle. Examine the fluid that drained while it is in the container. You should then take off 12 bolts that secure the Oil Pan before taking away the Oil Pan itself with its gasket. Read and analyze the magnet during inspection for the presence of big metal fragments because they show that the transmission might require new transmission units. You should keep the suction filter and seal in place when performing Oil Pan or gasket replacement alone. Pull suction filter straight down from its main housing position until you remove the old suction seal and filter provided you need to replace them. Remove all gasket residue from the main housing before eradicating any scratches that might create leakage. Install a new seal on the tube of suction filter before placing the filter and seal into the seal bore of the main housing. The seal must include its shoulder on the suction filter tube before insertion. Position the two m8 x 1.25 headless guide bolts in opposite Oil Pan mounting face corners before placing the gasket properly aligned to bolt holes. Position the gasket together with the Oil Pan securely over the guide bolts while securing them in position before applying two bolts. Complete installation of 12 bolts by tightening them to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) before reattaching the Drain Plug with its seal and finally tightening the Drain Plug to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Perform fluid refilling of dexroniii automatic transmission fluid after lowering the vehicle while acknowledging that transmission cavities and external circuits contain remaining fluid despite the draining process. Inspect the transmission fluid level in the final step.
