    Q:
How to replace the drum brake backing plate on Chevrolet Aveo? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process of replacing a drum Brake Backing Plate starts with raising the vehicle to maintain suitable support. Cleanly remove all brake shoe elements while eliminating the entire parking brake system and its retainer. Starting with the nuts that anchor the Wheel Hub assembly to the backing plate, remove them before extracting the Brake Line and installing a plug to stop fluid leakage or contamination. After removing the Wheel Cylinder assembly the Wheel Hub assembly should be extracted. You must disconnect the cable that provides power to the Wheel Speed Sensor together with the backing plate from its gasket when your vehicle comes equipped with abs. To install the assembly begin by placing the Wheel Hub together with a new gasket onto the backing plate before inserting the complete Wheel Hub/backing plate assembly into the rear axle plate. When your vehicle has abs brakes you must tighten the brake Wheel Hub/backing plate-to-rear axle nuts to 28 n.m (21 lb ft) after installing the nuts and reconnecting the Wheel Speed Sensor. Attach the brake Wheel Cylinder assembly to the backing plate while installing the Brake Line and tighten it to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The brake components require reinstallation before installing the Parking Brake Cable retainer onto the brake shoe lever. Next proceed with brake bleeding and lower the entire vehicle to the ground.
