Fuel Pressure Regulator

When working on fuel system components users must keep everything clean before starting service on the Fuel Pressure Regulator. The first step should involve relieving the fuel pressure. The Fuel Pressure Regulator retaining ring needs cleaning of all visible dirt before you detach the vacuum line leading to the pressure regulator. The first step is to remove the retaining ring snap while using a shop towel to absorb fuel to lift and twist the Fuel Pressure Regulator before freeing it from the housing. You must remove the small regulator o-ring along with the large and back up regulator o-rings before placing a cover on the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing to stop contamination. Before reframing the Fuel Pressure Regulator you must replace its o-rings with new ones and apply clean engine oil for light lubrication. Place the Fuel Pressure Regulator inside the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing and fasten it with a snap ring. After that install the regulator o-ring small, the regulator o-ring large, and the regulator o-ring back up. Install the vacuum line to the Fuel Pressure Regulator, tighten the fuel fill cap then reconnect the negative Battery Cable. A leak inspection process includes turning on the ignition for two seconds followed by ten seconds of ignition off time before reactivating the ignition to check for fuel leaks. Stand at the end of your installation by putting on the fuel injection sight shield.

The first step for Fuel Pressure Regulator service includes pressure relief and fuel system component cleanliness during handling. Wash all debris from the retaining ring of the Fuel Pressure Regulator before you take off its vacuum line. The next step requires removal of the snap ring and the use of a shop towel to contain any fuel drippings during the process of detaching the Fuel Pressure Regulator from its housing by lifting and twisting it. Insert a cover across the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing after removing the regulator o-ring small, regulator o-ring large, and regulator o-ring back up to maintain contaminant prevention. The first step for installation requires new o-rings on the Fuel Pressure Regulator before a thin coating of clean engine oil is applied to them. Place the Fuel Pressure Regulator inside the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing while securing it with the snap ring after installing the regulator back up o-ring followed by the regulator o-ring large before finalizing with the regulator o-ring small. Return the vacuum line to the Fuel Pressure Regulator then fasten the fuel fill cap while connecting the negative Battery Cable. A leak inspection requires turning on the ignition for two seconds before turning it off for ten seconds followed by another ignition on cycle to detect fuel leaks. The last step requires installation of the fuel injector sight shield.

Remove the regulator O-ring small, regulator filter screen, regulator O-ring large, and regulator O-ring back up.

Lift and twist the fuel pressure regulator to detach it from the fuel pressure regulator housing.

Install the regulator back up O-ring, regulator O-ring large, regulator filter screen, and regulator O-ring small before placing the fuel pressure regulator back into the fuel pressure regulator housing.

Install the regulator back up O-ring, regulator O-ring large, regulator filter screen, and regulator O-ring small.

Clean the fuel pressure regulator filter screen with gasoline if necessary, but do not immerse the fuel pressure regulator in a solvent bath.
