Valve Seals

Before working on the Valve Stem Oil Seal issues specialists need to position the Piston at top dead center (TDC) to keep the valve from entering the cylinder. First unscrew the Spark Plug and wipe away dirt in the Spark Plug's housing before taking out the Spark Plug from that specific cylinder. Insert the j 22794 adapter into the Spark Plug port while compressed air holds all valves securely. Put the j 38606 (Valve Spring Compressor) on the valve spring and manage its compression with j 38606 tool. After taking off valve locks and valve cap use valve spring compressors to examine the valve spring before lifting the Valve Stem Oil Seal off. After fitting the new Valve Stem Oil Seal you should add the valve spring and valve cap. Use the j 38606 to compress the valve and put back the valve locks before releasing the spring when needed. Open the valve lock and take the j 22794 from the Spark Plug port after making sure both valve locks sit correctly. Reattach the valve Rocker Arm before putting back the Spark Plug.

Be sure the Piston is at tdc in the working cylinder before working on the Valve Stem Oil Seal, Valve Stem Oil Seal, and valve spring, to prevent the valve from dropping into the cylinder. Turn the Spark Plug partially and remove any debris from the Spark Plug recess before you remove it. Next, remove the Rocker Arm and put the j 22794 Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) into the Spark Plug port, keeping the valves with j 38606 valve spring compressor (J 38606) attached, squeeze the valve spring so the valve locks can be removed, and take off the valve cap and take a close look at the valve spring and after, take out the Valve Stem Oil Seal. Begin by putting the new Valve Stem Oil Seal in place, then the valve spring and the valve cap. Use the j 38606 tool again to compress the valve spring, insert the valve locks using a little bit of grease, then release the spring. After the valve locks are properly set, let the air out and take the j 22794 out of the Spark Plug port. At the end, put the Rocker Arm in place and screw in the Spark Plug.

To service and repair the Valve Stem Oil Seal and replace the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring; first of all make sure the Piston in the cylinder is at top dead center (TDC) in order to avoid dropping the valve into the cylinder. First, loosen the Spark Plug and clean the Spark Plug recess area. Take away the Spark Plug and the valve Rocker Arm. Next, connect the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) in the Spark Plug port and apply compressed air to control the valves. Use valve spring compressor (J 38606) on valve spring, compress and remove the valve locks, valve cap, and valve spring, check spring for damage. Continue to install the new Valve Stem Oil Seal, then proceed to fix the valve spring, and the valve cap. Refit the valve spring by compressing it again with the valve spring compressor (J 38606) and install the valve locks, applying grease if needed to keep them locked in position. Let the valve spring loose and test if the locks are seated correctly. Lastly, blow off the air pressure and detach the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) from the Spark Plug port, replace the valve Rocker Arm and Spark Plug.

The Valve Stem Oil Seal service starts by taking off the Rocker Arm and Spark Plug first. Turn the engine until its Piston reaches top dead center to stop the valve from dropping into the cylinder before taking out the valve keys. Attach the Spark Plug port adapter part number j 22794 into the spark opening and blow compressed air into the valves to hold them in position. Put the valve spring compressor (J 38606) to lessen valve spring pressure before you take off valve keys, valve spring cap, and valve spring. Check valve spring condition and replace it when needed before you remove the Valve Stem Oil Seal and spring seat. Fit the Valve Stem Oil Seal/spring seat over the valve guide boss with appropriate tools while pressurizing the valve spring compressor (J 38606). Afterward, place the valve spring and valve spring cap into position and depress the valve spring again using the spring compressor. Push the valve keys into place and apply grease as required before removing the compressor unit so the valves can drop when releasing the spring while positioning the keys correctly. After releasing compressed air use Spark Plug port adapter j22794 to take off the parts and put back the Rocker Arm with Spark Plug.

A technician needs to use Spark Plug port adapter (J22794) and valve spring compressor (J38606) to work on the Valve Stem Oil Seal while also replacing the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring. First turn the engine so the piston in the working cylinder sits at tdc to avoid valve damage during removal. Clean the Spark Plug opening first by loosening it before disassembly. Put the Spark Plug port adapter (J22794) into the Spark Plug opening while compressed air keeps the valve position fixed. First put the valve spring compressor (J38606) on the valve spring and press it to take out the valve locks then the valve cap and the valve spring. Check the valve spring for problems and replace it if needed. Then eliminate the spring seal along with Valve Stem Oil Seal. Install the valve parts by putting suitable tools to push the oil seal/spring seat over the valve guide boss. Then stone the valve spring down and set the valve cap. Use the valve spring compressor (J38606) to pressure down the valve spring so you can put on the valve locks that require grease for better retention. Set the valve spring apart and make sure the locks stay in their correct position. After reinstalling the valve Rocker Arm you can let go of air pressure and put back the Spark Plug port adapter (J22794) while inserting the new Spark Plug.

Removing the spark plugs and rocker arms is the first step to service the Valve Stem Oil Seal and change the Valve Stem Oil Seal, as well as the valve spring. After that, install the Spark Plug port adapter (J22794) into the cylinder head and blast compressed air into the Spark Plug port to keep the valves from closing. You may use the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) or the valve spring compressor (J 38606) for compressing the valve spring. Take measurements of the valve locks, valve cap, and valve spring, and then take off the Valve Stem Oil Seal. When putting in the new Valve Stem Oil Seal, keep a plastic sleeve on the guide boss and simply press the seal onto it. Assemble the three pieces: spring seat, valve spring, and valve cap, and use either the valve spring compressor (J 38606) or the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) to compress the valve spring again. Place the valve locks into their place and use grease if you need to, then remove your grip on the valve spring to confirm they are seated correctly. When you are done with all other steps, put the rocker arms and spark plugs back.

The required tools for Valve Stem Oil Seal service and valve spring replacement include Spark Plug port adapter (J22794) and valve spring compressor (J38606). Set the engine to top dead center stance to stop the valve from entering the cylinder while working. Do not touch or disassemble the Spark Plug when it is still hot. Using a tool tighten the Spark Plug to remove it while cleaning the recess area of dirt. Put the Spark Plug port adapter into the port and blow compressed air while keeping the valves positioned. You need to take out the Rocker Arm followed by compressing the valve spring through the valve spring compressor tool (J38606) before getting the valve keys, valve cap, and valve spring. Check the valve spring condition and replace it before you take out the spring seat and Valve Stem Oil Seal. To set the valve spring and Valve Stem Oil Seal assembly apply the driver and press components onto the valve guide stops. Begin putting valve keys in place and hold the valve spring down by using the valve spring compressor (J38606). Preserve the valve keys with grease if essential. Unwind the valve spring from the valve spring compressor (J38606) tool and check that valve keys sit straight. The valve Rocker Arm returns after you release air pressure and install the Spark Plug through the port adapter (J22794).

Install the valve spring and valve cap.

Reinstall the rocker arm, release the air pressure, remove the Spark Plug Port Adapter (J 22794), and finally install the spark plug.

The Spark Plug Port Adapter (J 22794) is installed into the spark plug port.

Compress the valve spring again with the Valve Spring Compressor (J38606) and install the valve locks, using grease if necessary.

Release the air pressure and remove the Spark Plug Port Adapter (J 22794).

Inspect the spring for damage and replace it if necessary.

Release the air pressure, remove the Spark Plug Port Adapter (J 22794), and then reinstall the rocker arm and the spark plug.

Release the valve spring by removing the Valve Spring Compressor (J 38606) and ensure the valve keys are properly seated.

Place the new oil seal over the stem until it contacts the valve guide, then use the Valve Stem Seal Installer (J 42863) to install it.

Compress the valve spring again with the Valve Spring Compressor and install the valve locks, using grease if necessary.

Reinstall the rocker arms and spark plugs.

Compress the valve spring again with the Valve Spring Compressor (J 38606) and install the valve locks.

Release the valve spring and ensure the locks are seated properly.

Use the Valve Guide Seal Remover (J 36017) to install the new valve seal, followed by the valve spring.

Release the air pressure and remove the J 22794 from the spark plug port, then reinstall the rocker arm and the spark plug.

Remove the air hose adaptor from the spark plug hole, take off the Valve Spring Compressor (J 43649) from the cylinder head, and reinstall the spark plugs, camshaft roller followers, and finally the camshaft.

The Spark Plug Port Adapter (J 22794) is installed into the spark plug port, and compressed air is applied.

Install the new valve stem oil seal, followed by the valve spring and valve cap.

Do not loosen or remove the spark plug; instead, loosen it and clean any dirt from the spark plug recess before removal.
