    Q:
How to replace the front air bag sensor on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step until replacing the SIR Front End Discriminating Sensor requires to disable the SIR system. First remove the off road skid plate if your vehicle has it. Use tools to disconnect the sensor harness from the front end discriminating sensor while cutting loose the Connector Position Assurance (CPa) from its position on the harness connector. The inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor must be removed alongside its mounting fasteners from the vehicle body. Last, replace the damaged fastener with a new one (IP/N 11514034 or equivalent) after you condition the front end lower tie surface for the new weld nut and perform the migwelding process. Secure reinstallation with a new fastener that also serves as IP/N 11515926 equivalent. First position the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor on the front end lower tie surface with the arrow facing forward. Then secure the mounting fasteners to 8 N.m (71 lb in). Connect the front end discriminating sensor harness connector onto the sensor then install the CPA and replace the off road skid plate if your vehicle has it. Finally, enable the SIR system.

    Q:
What Does the Air Bag Sensor Replacement Policy Mandate for Sensors in the Area of Accident Damage on GMC C3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Car manufacturers require the replacement of all sensors affected by an accident zone through the sir sensor replacement policy. Any damaged part of the vehicle showing markers of crushing and bending falls under this requirement. According to sir sensor replacement policy vehicle owners must replace sensors located in front of the Radiator even when the air bags have not activated or the sensor looks whole. The sir sensing system can malfunction because of invisible damage to mounting brackets or wire insulation which requires a complete sensor replacement without attempting to check its state. When a malfunctioning sensor displays a diagnostic trouble code through the dtc table then the sensor needs to be replaced.

    Q:
What Does the Air Bag Sensor Replacement Policy Mandate for Sensors in Accident-Damaged Areas on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The sir sensor replacement policy requires the substitution of sensors that exist within crushed bent or otherwise damaged vehicle regions resulting from collision incidents such as tree-based medium-speed accidents. The sir sensor mounted in front of the Radiator must be replaced regardless of deployment or appearance of the sensor. The sir sensing system operates improperly due to invisible damage such as slight mounting bracket bends or insulation cuts so always replace the sensor immediately without trying to examine its state. The sensor replacement becomes necessary when any diagnostic trouble code (DTC) table points to its malfunction.
