    Q:
How to replace the rear disc brake backing plate on GMC Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before starting work on a rear disc Brake Backing Plate begin by releasing the brake if it is engaged and lift the vehicle with proper support. Discard the tire and wheel combination while following the brake caliper notice in service precautions. You must first take away the brake rotor then move on to the Axle Shaft and park brake shoe. Take off the backing plate from the axle housing flange after removing its nuts. Secure the backing plate onto the axle housing flange and put on the backing plate nuts. Tighten them with 134.5 nm (100 foot pound) torque. Put back the park brake shoe and Axle Shaft in their proper places before setting the park brake shoe to the correct position. Position the brake rotor and tire assembly on the vehicle before letting the vehicle down. Slowly press the Brake Pedal up to two-thirds of its range when the engine is off and let go slowly. Let the Brake Pedal rest next to the bottom position and then press it again multiple times to fully position the brake caliper pistons and pads. Before finishing set the park brake cable to its proper position.
