The Brake Shoe accepts the straight end of the adjuster spring followed by the adjuster spring hook end attaching to the tab on the adjuster actuator before installing the return spring to the Brake Shoe. The adjuster should work correctly when the park brake actuator lever is manipulated to divide the brake shoes which enables the adjuster actuator lever to descend and then ascend while releasing the park brake actuator lever; inadequate operation requires remove and reinstalling the adjuster. Complete the work by adjusting brake shoes together with the park brake cable then install the Brake Drum and lower the vehicle into position.

Connect the park brake cable onto the park brake actuator lever while checking for proper engageement between the adjuster and Brake Shoe and park brake actuator. Before fastening the adjuster actuator to the Brake Shoe users must first install gm p/n 1052196 (Canadian P/N 5264008) brake lubricant or equivalent to the adjuster actuator/Brake Shoe interface. Pay attention to the limit of adjustable tension on the adjuster spring before pushing the straight section of the adjuster spring into the Brake Shoe and securing the hook end at the tab of the adjuster actuator. Authored instructions are to place the return spring onto brake shoes before checking adjuster operation while moving the park brake actuator lever to separate brake shoes. After that, workers adjust brake shoes and park brake cable and install the Brake Drum before lowering the vehicle.

You should start the Parking Brake Shoe replacement procedure for rear disc systems by raising the car and supporting it while you take off the tire and wheel assemblies. Take out the two retainers and the park brake cable bracket from the park brake actuator, then set the rear hub aside.

Remove the rear hub, which includes the backing plate, park brake cable bracket, and park brake actuator as an assembly.

Use the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover (J 38400) to pry it off similarly.

Detach the park brake cable return spring from the park brake actuator and bracket at the rear wheel.
