Starter

A vehicle replacement procedure for Starter motors begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by vehicles suspension. The first step is to remove the transmission cover bolt while those with four wheel drive (4WD) should untighten the front axle mounting bracket nuts to place the front axle mounting bracket bolt in correct alignment with the support bushing without removing the bolt. Start by taking off the Starter bolts along with removing the oil level sensor electrical connector. Migrate the Starter at least 5.0 cm forward beyond the transmission while removing the Starter lead nut followed by the Starter lead as well as positive cable nut and positive cable. The Starter should be positioned on a workbench while you need to remove both the transmission cover snap and any Starter heat shield protection. Start by attaching the Starter heat shield to its place and then secure the transmission cover onto the Starter if required. The positive cable installation requires connecting it to the starting component while applying the positive cable nut and tightening it to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Connect the Starter lead and fasten the Starter lead nut tight at 3.4 n.m (30 lb in). Position the Starter into place before installing Starter bolts which should be tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The front axle mounting bracket nuts require tightening to 95 n.m (70 lb ft) after ensuring the bolt for the front axle mounting bracket bolt is fully engaged and 4wd systems are present. End by installing the transmission cover bolt which requires 9 n.m torque (80 lb in torque) before lowering the vehicle and restoring the negative Battery Cable.

Starting the repair process requires the safe elevation of the vehicle along with disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery. The transmission cover bolt should be removed while front axle mounting bracket bolts need removing from 4wd vehicles until the bracket tip reaches the support bushing without disassembly. Move on by taking off the Starter bolts while also cutting the connection of the oil level sensor electrical wires. Through a methodical sequence, slide the Starter forward to clear the transmission before removing the Starter lead nut and positive cable from the Starter and finally disconnecting the positive cable nut . Set the Starter on a workbench then unfasten the transmission cover from the Starter if needed followed by removing the Starter heat shield if required. Installation begins by adding the Starter heat shield followed by snapping the transmission cover onto the Starter unit. The positive cable requires installation on the Starter while tightening the positive cable nut to 9 n.m (80 lb in). After installing the Starter lead, secure the lead nut with 3.4 n.m (30 lb in) torque setting. Put the Starter where it belongs before installing and torque-stretching the Starter bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The oil level sensor electrical connector should be reconnected after which front axle mounting bracket bolt positioning followed by front axle mounting bracket nuts installation at 95 n.m (70 lb ft) torque specification and 4wd system. End your installation by installing the transmission cover bolt while tightening it to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Next, lower the vehicle and reattach its negative Battery Cable.

Reconnect the positive cable to the starter stud, then install the starter lead nut, tightening it to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Raise the vehicle and remove any starter motor brackets and shields if they are present.

Tighten it to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Connect the oil level sensor electrical connector, install the right transmission cover bolt, and tighten it to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Finally, lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative battery cable.

Remove the engine wiring harness nut and the engine wiring harness lead from the starter.
