    Q:
How to repair scratched wood steering wheels on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to fix scratched wood steering wheels, the steering wheel must be removed first. Clean the wood section using the wax remover and grease, and mask off the non-wood components. Sanding is done with a 400 grit and finishing with a 600 without sanding onto the clear coat. Following sanding, wash the piece of wood with wax and grease remover. Paint the steering wheel with a clear coat according to the guidelines of the 2003 GM Approved Refinish Materials Booklet (GM 4901 M-D-2003 (English) or M-D-F2003 (French). Finally, reinstall the steering wheel.

    Q:
How to replace the steering wheel on Chevrolet Suburban 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
First disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system before proceeding to detach the inflator module with the horn switch. Prepare a steering wheel alignment mark so you remember how the wheel relates to the shaft before taking out the wheel nut. You need the Steering Wheel Puller (J 1859-A) paired with either the Steering Wheel Puller Adapter (J-36541-A) or the Steering Wheel Puller Legs (J 42578) to extract the steering wheel. Installation required the use of alignment marks made during removal to position the steering wheel properly on the steering shaft. Secure the wheel with the steering wheel nut by tightening it to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). The SIR system activation should follow reinstallation of the horn switch along with the inflator module.
