Test the engine start functionality by connecting the transaxle range switch electrical connector then confirm engine start-up occurs only while the selector is in park or neutral position. Make an adjustment to the switch when it automatically engages at positions other than park or neutral. The installation of the shift control cable to the transaxle range switch lever should be completed before performing a functionality check. Begin the new switch setup by tackling the same beginning steps that maintain the transaxle shaft in neutral position followed by bolt alignment before tightening the range switch nuts to 20 nm (15 lb ft) torque values.
