    Q:
How to replace the rear Parking Assist Distance Sensor on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace a rear object sensor requires disconnecting its electrical connectors. After lifting the locking tabs you should remove the rear object sensor from its housing. The small screwdriver of the specified length releases tabs before you remove the spring. You should push the tabs from within the housing space to remove it and afterward move the bezel through the fascia by pressing. The application of paint to the new rear object sensor requires special attention because painting previously painted areas will render the sensor non-operational; the maximum paint thickness should be 6 mils according to measurements from a suitable paint thickness gauge for non-ferrous metals. Push the sensor bezel into position through the fascia after aligning its keyhole with the key according to the bumper fascia color. The housing should be installed onto the bezel by putting it into the fascia rear openings so it snaps into position. The spring installation to the housing requires complete seating where both spring keys should sit on top and bottom housing surfaces to maintain sensor attachment to the bumper fascia. Lay the decoupling ring on the sensor before putting the sensor into the housing with the electrical connector facing toward the passenger side fascia and check for proper placement of the housing's sensor tabs. Finally, connect the electrical connectors.

    Q:
What should you ensure when painting the new rear object sensor for the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
Do not refinish previously painted sensors, and check that the paint does not exceed 6 mils using a paint thickness gauge suitable for non-ferrous metals.
