    Q:
How to Properly Handle Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
A replacement of the transmission fluid cooler hose/pipe requires disconnecting the transaxle oil cooler (TOC) outlet hose that runs from the top side of the Radiator. After properly raising the vehicle place it on supports and remove the toc hose retainer bolt while setting a drain pan under the oil cooler hoses. Disconnect all transmission fluid cooler hoses starting from the transaxle whereas the outlet hose comes off first then proceed to the inlet hoses on the Radiator before removing all components from the vehicle. The installation process requires that enough space exists around transaxle oil cooler pipes and hoses to prevent difficulties with wear or damage. Before reinstalling the toc hoses onto the vehicle they must be attached to the Radiator support retainer at the top followed by the Radiator and finally the transaxle. Install the toc hose retainer and bolt with 25 nm (18 lb ft) torque setting then lower the vehicle before applying the toc outlet hose to the Radiator top side. Taking care to avoid excessive fluid quantity will prevent damaging foam formation and the subsequent loss of fluid and transmission shift complaints while protecting device components. Conclude the procedure by following guidelines for transmission fluid level adjustment that combine proper fluid checks and recommended fluids as well as approximate capacity figures.

    Q:
How to replace the Transmission Oil Cooler Hose on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the transmission fluid cooler hose/pipe requires disconnecting the transaxle oil cooler outlet hose from its position atop the Radiator. Support the vehicle at a height before you use a wrench to remove the toc hose retainer bolt while placing a drain pan under the oil cooler hoses. Start by detaching the toc outlet hose from the transaxle and continue by disconnection of toc inlet hose from both the transaxle and the Radiator. The procedure requires detachment of toc hoses from Radiator support retainer after which both hoses can be removed from the vehicle. Allow sufficient room between the transaxle oil cooler pipes and hoses during installation to avoid damage and wear. Reinstall the toc hoses onto the vehicle according to this procedure: begin with the Radiator support retainer then move to the Radiator and end with the transaxle. Secure the toc hose retainer and bolt while fastening it to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque and lower down the vehicle. Complete the Radiator installation by connecting the toc outlet hose to its top side but avoid overfilling the transaxle to prevent fluid foaming and decrease performance alongside gearbox complaints and equipment breakdown. Tighten the bolt at 25 n.m. Use initial 18 lb ft torque setting for the toc hose retainer.
