Clean the o-ring sealing surface along with the pintle valve seat and air passage using gm cleaner p/n 1052626 or gm x - 66a via shop towel or parts brush method to remove heavy deposits and remove Throttle Body when cleaning is needed because the air passage is heavily contaminated. The o-ring requires examination for any damage indications including tears or fractures or misshapen appearance. A replacement o-ring should be installed if damage is detected. It is essential to use a replacement Idle Control Valve exactly identical to the original because application-specific dimensions govern both the pintle shape and diameter. A measurement of 28 mm (1.1 in) or greater between the Idle Control Valve pintle tip and mounting surface requires a gentle fingertip adjustment which will not harm the valve. Clean engine oil must be applied to the o-ring before installing it on the Idle Control Valve while mounting the valve component itself. The screws need prefitted loctite 262 application to their threads for proper installation by using a torque of 3 n.m (27 lb in). Reestablish the electrical connector after which you should perform the idle learn procedure.
