2000 Buick LeSabre Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake pads on 2000 Buick LeSabre?
A: Begin Brake Pad replacement by taking two-thirds of brake fluid from master cylinder then lift and stabilize the vehicle. Take the tire and wheel unit off the vehicle. Using a screwdriver or pry bar can harm the piston boot and make it prone to rust. Keep the piston movement within 1 mm to safeguard the internal parts. Insert the large c clamp between the caliper piston bar and bore until pressure builds up and you see no more than 1 millimeter of piston movement. Detach the bracket that holds the park brake cable to the brake caliper and take out the park brake cable from the cable lever. Lift the caliper body upwards by taking out the slide pin at its bottom. Check the condition of anchor bracket pads through both inner and outer ends before testing the pad retainers. Check the suspension boots for damage before replacing both caliper parts. Additionally, replace worn or corroded caliper pin bolts. Use a spanner to rotate the caliper piston clockwise until it returns fully to its designated bore position. Position the cutout spaces on the caliper piston with the alignment holes on the Brake Pad back. Insert Brake Pad retainers into the caliper anchor bracket followed by the inboard and outboard pads. Put the caliper piston boot in its level position while folding the boot's internal folds neatly. Press air out of the boot with a little plastic or wood tool by lifting its edge close to the piston. Lower the caliper above the brake pads and rest it in the anchor bracket. Then insert and tighten the lower caliper slide pin to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Position the park brake cable bracket onto the brake caliper body and join the park brake cable at its end. Position the wheel back on and lower the vehicle. Begin the engine and press the brake pedal 778 n (175 lb) three times to let the Brake Caliper Piston and pads seat properly. Fill the brake system with new fluid then smooth the Brake Pad surface against the rotor.
