2000 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2000 Buick LeSabre?
A: A technician should raise the vehicle to perform front brake hose replacement before removing the tire and wheel setup. Take out all rust and debris from the brake hose and pipe fittings before covering the open pipe end with a rubber stopper to stop brake fluid waste and pollution. Push off the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose and loosen the brake hose retainer using a flat tool. Take off the brake hose from its bracket and brake hose bolt currently connected to the brake caliper before extracting the brake hose alone. Insert a rubber plug into the brake caliper bolt hole to block fluid escaping after you discard two solid brake hose gaskets that may remain stuck on the parts. Unfasten the strut bolt to free the hose bracket. Also take out the hose. Replace rubber plug and set new copper gaskets on brake caliper hose bolt hole for installation. Put the brake hose bolt into position with both gaskets and fix it onto the brake caliper while turning the bolt to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.), keeping the hose straight and without any bends or turns. Fasten the brake hose to its bracket before putting on the brake hose retaining tool. Fit the brake pipe into the exposed brake hose end while tightening it to 15 nm (11 ft. Lb). Reinstall the hose bracket and bolt on the strut assembly while using 9 nm (7 ft.) torque value. Keep the vehicle stationary until you get solid brake pedal feeling because air in the brake system creates loss of brakes which puts you at risk of harm. Look up the brake caliper bleeder screw to remove air from the system then put in the tire and wheel unit before setting the vehicle back on the ground.
